I will leave it until August and see. Had my ST for 17 years and this is my biggest wobble.

It's supposed to be an enjoyable day out and it's not. It's just plain depressing most of the time.

Spot on Stone , very similar feelings for me
  • Went to my first game in 1984. Followed the club through the good times and bad times. Never giving up on them no matter how many times they give me the right hump!!! I will renew.

Sorry but what the hell does this achieve ?
Because if I was rd and people was holding off because I sacked a manager who put the team bottom of the league I wouldn't know what to think . What if he was putting the early renewals to one side for the pitch or the upgrading of the training ground or a player in the summer . He might now think sod them . I'm really baffled how people think this is gonna help , this is our club support it through thick and thin with a new manager who knows we might not get relegated now!

I think you say yourself what it may achieve. it might baffle Roland, it might make him think 'sod them'. It might hold fire on the training ground where Roland basically says players will be prepared for Standard Liege.

    Or

Unlikely that it may seem, it may make Roland declare that we are not, and never will be subservient to Standard Liege. That the Charlton manager will have autonomy, and never be told who to play or not play, that the Charlton manager will be expressly instructed to fight for the good of Charlton Athletic, and to have conflict with Standard Liege if needs be. That Charlton can harness it's resources for the good of Charlton, that his network represents an opportunity for collaboration AMONGST EQUALS rather than a dictatorship from Standard Liege.

Then he might want to think how he can demonstrate that kind of stuff in action rather than words.

Stuff like that might make some of us renew with a smile rather than renew holding our noses.

He is rich, we are his plaything, and a dip in season tickets and support can probably be covered by his £4 Million relegation clause, so Roland has no need to give a toss about us does he?

Ahh, I see what you've done there - but shouldn't it be 19?

We are football fans and by definition fickle, so if the team starts playing good football and winning games we will soon get on board. But being football fans who have seen a fair bit, we also know that scenario is unlikely. Well, tonight is the new beginning - I do not go in expectation, but maybe that is a good thing!
  • well there is no point telling people not to debate it and saying it was a roll call but hey. i reckon about 10 people so far agree with me. roland better watch out ;)

You have just made my mind up ........ to renew immediately.
  • Had season ticket since 1985, definitely getting another.
Why do people on this forum keep going on about feeder clubs ?
Good players may go to Liege, how's that any different from us selling Parker, Bowyer, Minto, Barness, Jenkinson, we always sold our better players ?

The problem is - I will leave until the last minute - but will get them as cut me and I bleed red blood! That statement doesn't work so well for us!

I'll be renewing before the deadline as will my parents, brother and nephew

Come on. Even if you think this network thing will work, it's completely and utterly different.

When we sold those players on, it was because we felt it was the only option to us or in OUR best interests as a club to receive the cash.

If we "sell" a player to SL will it be in OUR best interests? Or theirs? I think that's still a valid question to ask and one we don't yet know the answer to.
  • I don't see any point in not renewing. Won't matter a jot to what's going to happen for good or bad and might just might hurt the club more than the £457 millionaire owner Rolad Duchatelet who is ploughing his own furrow regardless.

What exactly are those of you delaying for ? Relegation to League one ? Staying in Championship ? You have obviously decided why you are not renewing now so don't bother to renew at all ? What will make the difference. ? Serious question.

Will renew as I always do. I understand the nerves, but see it as much more logical and likely that things will work out for the better than for the worse in the long term. The finances just do not work the other way around.

I mean, RD's network is hardly a new thing and has anyone seen a single example of an established first-team regular from one of the clubs being required to move to another of the clubs? Because I haven't. The nearest thing was the midfield lad from SL who was offered the chance to come here, he said no and that was that.

I am royally pissed off with what's gone on and very concerned about, I won't say the future, but definitely the fabric of our club, but I will be renewing our 3 tickets, love the club too much.

when the prices go up after april 9th by who knows what, then i hope you all feel satisfied that because of your stubbornness you would have cost yourself another 100 maybe 200 quid, is it worth it really? putting your season ticket on hold will do nothing but cause more hassle for you because you'll be paying much more than you should have

at the start of the week i wasnt going to renew what with the performance at brammal lane, powell's departure and the overall running of the club at the moment

however, as stated many times before, owners & players will come and go - whether you liked them or not - but all i care about is charlton and nothing else, which is why i have just renewed mine.

If it's looking like we'll be in League One at the start of April then I highly doubt season ticket prices will be going up.

I don't want to watch a team made up entirely of people who either weren't good enough for SL, might be good enough to move there in future, and the total disregard of players like Hamer, Jackson and Morrison.

I've always wanted Charlton to maintain a core of British players, who know the league and don't mind freezing Tuesdays up north, not mercenaries. I'd also like to know more about Roland's transfer and team selection policies, otherwise I am basically paying £300+ to watch some old Belgian guy play real life Football Manager where instead of simulating matches he's stuck a no-mark yes man in control.

That's besides the treatment of Powell and Kermorgant. What league we're in won't affect my decision and I'll still do my share of away games, plus a few home ones anyway probably.

Not renewing my two. 19 years I've put up with a lot, but not this. Don't care if Roland doesn't care about my money, we should all do what we can and what we think is right.

Worried about you, @LoOkOuT - you seem to be in a particularly bad place at the moment. Mind you, don't think I'm far behind...

Renewed mine straightaway. No other thoughts necessary.
I'm hopelessly loyal and sentimental therefore will renew until I physically can't any longer.

Two on hold here, want to see how things settle down. Charlton till I die but wont spend hard earned money following a feeder club

We won't be a feeder club - you are believing this mistakenly - don't follow others
