I was sitting in the Lower North, had a good view and don't need the replays to convince me that Reza dived.

Watching the video above, looks like their number 14 gave him a nudge in the back - but Reza took the theatrical option, when he probably could have stayed on his feet.

With good movement, he got deep into their box there and if he'd stayed on his feet, could have caused all sorts of panic in their box.

Or simply taken a touch and turned, laying it back across goal.

He made a rod for his own back by going down 3-4 times in the first half. The ref was waiting for him to do it again so he had an excuse to book him and couldn't wait to get the card out. The flourish of the card and theatrical signalling of the freekick said it all.

I wouldn't put any of what he did in the blatant diving/cheating category, but he looks like he will go down under the slightest contact and over here is quickly going to get a reputation for it.

The manager needs to have a word because its pretty much inevitable that refs will be waiting for him to go down and it could cost us vital decisions.

to weak on the ball--pushed off it easily. At the time i said pen but all around me said straight away it was a dive---they were right.

Neither was exactly a dive - just went down to easily. With the second incident, there was nothing much there at all, but with the first, I have certainly seen them given - very much like Church's earlier in the year, if not a little bit more of a pen.

I'm sure Powell that he was clever and would win us free kicks - bit of a culture shock I would suggest, if he thought that was baptism of fire wait for Saturday

Clear dive and why did he dive? He could have gone on and got a shot/cross. Bizarre.

I thought he just lost his footing to be honest. Not a pen but not a dive.
  • The one he was booked for was a dive and not a very good dive either. The first half one was too far away for a good view but didn't look like a foul.

It does look like his left leg just misses the turf and over he goes loss of footing whilst being outmuscled no foul and no dive either in my opinion.
  • A terrible dive

I was bang in line front row west upper. I thought it was a blatant dive. He had already done it three or four times. I instantly dislike him. Didn't see much talent to get enthused about either but I am maybe forming a view based solely on the diving. Hope Cp drums it right out of him
  • Dive. In my eyes his only crime was that it wasn't a very good one.

Both penalty appeals were dives, and bad ones as well
  • Cheat put in simple terms. Not impressed.

I thought there was contact for the first but he went down easily - If it was against us, would have probably been a penalty. The booking a much clearer dive.
  • I wasn't at the Brum game, but what I noticed against Wigan is how lightweight he was against a centre-half he went down a few times even a simple shirt tug and he went down ref gave him very little. It seemed a shock to him how tough physical the game was and although he can leap was beaten in the air very easy. He will need to adjust the way he plays to adapt to English Football how direct and quick it can be and find ways of beating organised defences.

  • That one was a dive and so was the one in the first half.

Never like seeing our own players do that even if a pen would have been handy in the second half

Hopefully Powell drums it out of him

Watched him closely yesterday. His work rate was very good, he was quick and lively, he joined in the play well and made some good runs in behind. But whenever Birmingham put a body on him, he went down easily. I counted five times in the first half and three in the second, including the booking. He needs to get some physical strength from somewhere or change his mentality.

Got to agree same as last week went to ground too easily. Initial impression is good just needs to cut out the silly stuff otherwise he'll get a reputation and genuine penalty shouts will fall on deaf ears.
  • Probably didn't help CP announcing to all and sundry, upon Reza's arrival, “He has got pace and wins fouls, which you want to happen – especially in the attacking third".

I was adamant it was a penalty yesterday in yhe flesh but having seen that I'm now of the mind he dived. Don't get me wrong I'd have loved a penalty at that time and we all would have forgot how it came about but doing that leaves a nasty taste and I don't want our players doing it. If it kept us up though. ....
  • you never know we could have ourselves a poor mans Suarez here which for me can only be a good thing

Blatant dive as was the one in the 1st half when he could have got a shot off. Our Iranian/Belgium colleagues on here warned us about this and they were clearly right.

FWIW I was distinctly unimpressed with him yesterday and cannot believe the amount of lifers who were enthused by his performance. Lightweight and a cheat.

    This 100%.

Not a dive ? Some people need to go to Specsavers.

Instead of having a shot, he went down like he'd been shot.

Most pathetic dives I've seen for a long long time & extremely embarassing.

Thinking about it, he was like Drogba when he first came to England. Spent most of the game throwing himself on the ground.
  • I hate cheating......................when the other team does it ;-) i did not mind Yann bending the rules to help us so im not gonna criticise Reza just because he has not been successful with it yet.

Don't get me wrong id love a cheat free game but both teams are gonna try it, so it might as well be us.
  • Reza needs to man up if he's going to make it in English football. But then he's here on a two and a half year contract, so we've got plenty of time to sort it out.

Surprised there is so much angst about the first incident - from the replay, there was certainly contact so he had every right to go down. Just like Church earlier in the year.
