Did Reza Dive? Strong or weak?

Hi all,

Seen it said a couple times - was sitting in West Lower and it seemed a foul to me, but I think North Stand lads might have had a better view - did he dive? The incident happened a couple minutes after he stayed on his feat in the penalty area and everyone (inc me) remarked that "if he had only gone down...".

Possibly related to the polarisation in his strength - he seemed to me to muscle his way quite successfully through the opposition Centre Backs, but I've also seen accusations that he's too weak.

Thoughts Gentlelads/ladies?

  • went down too easily and the ref was waiting to book him from the first one, however it will win us a pen I am sure
  • It was right in front of me, looked like a dive.
  • I am surprised anyone would doubt it. Tried to con the ref simple as.
  • We sit behind the covered end goal. The one he got booked for was a dive.

He'll need to work on that part of his game, the only way we're going to score this season is through a penalty!!
  • I think that players abroad do tend to go down easily and it is a case of acclimatisation to the English League. The management need to instruct him and pull him up on it in training or like Suarez he will get a reputation and miss out on legitimate calls.
  • The one in the first half looked more like a pen but I was disappointed he went down as I didn't think he needed to.
  • Blatant dive as was the one in the 1st half when he could have got a shot off. Our Iranian/Belgium colleagues on here warned us about this and they were clearly right.

FWIW I was distinctly unimpressed with him yesterday and cannot believe the amount of lifers who were enthused by his performance. Lightweight and a cheat. Smith/Pigott would be a far better option then what we saw yesterday.
  • wasn't a dive as there was definitely contact, could he have stayed on his feet? perhaps
  • If one of our players goes down in the box (ahem!), it is a pen, if one of there's goes down it's a dive:-)

I was pretty much in line with it from where I was sitting in the North West Quadrant and it looked a dive to me.

Actually when I say dive, I just think he went down far to easily.
  • Midway seat in West Stand. Looked like a dive to me.
  • The one in the first half was a pen for me. 2nd looked a dive

the first one looked similar to Church going down against Reading (Just depends how much contact there was with the one yesterday)
the second one... Definitely a dive I'm afraid... You could tell by the Birmingham players reaction when he screamed in Reza's face for going down
  • Had a clear view no pen did he dive not IMO went to ground did not look for a pen should not have been booked.
  • Anyway, who takes our penalties these days?

If that's not an outright dive, it is definitely going down far far too easily! Thought at the time it was a dive.... gosh it's fun being right all the time. ;)
  • Anyway, who takes our penalties these days?

Lets hope it isnt anyone who takes our free kicks after yesterdays dismal attempts!

  • Looks like a dive :( But why do people think he's lightweight? He was more than up for the muscling going on with their Centre-backs - there wasn't a cross or long-ball that didn't involve him pushing into or otherwise forcing his way past a Centre back from what I saw
  • Dive all day long, I had a good view and the Ref got it right.
  • Went down easily never a penalty.
  • He could have passed it back for Evina. Knowing Evinas propensity to treat the ball like a hot potato it would have been a perfect shooting opportunity!

  • Lets hope it isnt anyone who takes our free kicks after yesterdays dismal attempts!

where's Yann when you need him???
  • By the reaction of the Birmingham player running towards the ref think he may have thought he had given a penalty. A dive where I sit

Anyone got a clip of the first half pen/dive incident?
  • Looked like Forresteri yesterday the way he kept trying to win fouls.
  • Dive, as was the one in the first half and a couple in between. I was embarrassed for the bloke. Stay on your feet and get a shot off.

I also thought he was weak, but to be fair to him that is probably because I have got used to watching Yann who is a different player completely.

May be potential but after one game I am certainly more in Bolloxbuilder's view point currently.
  • Watched him closely yesterday. His work rate was very good, he was quick and lively, he joined in the play well and made some good runs in behind. But whenever Birmingham put a body on him, he went down easily. I counted five times in the first half and three in the second, including the booking. He needs to get some physical strength from somewhere or change his mentality.
