CE has it, and Prague. The only plus is by running down most contracts apart from undisputed Prem quality and talented youth, signing of RG & PP may be the start of RD revolution. But YTU transfer to Billy Smarts please.
  • I think Thuram's first mistake on Saturday will a face a crowd reaction at the Valley not seen since maybe Kim Grant v Notts Co. Very hostile indeed especially if he gifts them a goal.

Great. And with his confidence completely shattered, he's then vulnerable to gifting another.

Thuram is hardly going to be subbed midway through a match - and a teenager thrown in the deep end for his League debut.

It might be a better reaction for supporters to actually get behind Thuram - and the team.

Chris Powell does not refer at all to why Thuram arrived in the first place.

That is the most significant issue.

He doesn't. From all he's said though, to me it sounds as if he's been told the club will follow a strict policy re those out of contract and not signing, and as a result he's lost players previous regimes might have let him keep. He sounds rueful but accepting.

It is possible that Thuram arrived in anticipation of a keeper not signing and being moved out before the window, which is what happened. Or indeed that it was one of the positions Powell told RD he could do with improving - because I think it's been a squad weak spot for a few years now, particularly behind Hamer. It's not as if Alnwick was snapped up by Liverpool now is it.

And Powell 's hardly going to say in the paper that his keepers were crap, is he.

Well, by the same logic, he's hardly going to say that the only goalkeeper he has available to pick at the moment is crap either is he? I don't think Powell is obliged to play Thuram, it's just that he doesn't have a choice for the moment. Anyone who thinks that he was happy for his number one to leave is kidding themselves, but Hamer is still here, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he is brought back in as soon as he has recovered from his injury.

why? As far as I'm concerned he was unfortunate at Boro' as the ball bounced just in front of him and he later made a number of decent saves. Not being at Wigan I can't comment on his overall performance BUT neither of the goals were his fault and fault lies elsewhere like the wall, Morro's rash challenge, defending deep like it was the Alamo etc etc. Keepers are an easy target but before the ball get's to the goal someone elsewhere on the ptich has invariably made a mistake so let's ball them out too shall we? FFS give the guy a chance.

It's not always about being in direct fault for goals. His hesitancy, unwilligness to come for crosses, and his constant punching and flapping put the team under huge amounts of pressure against Wigan, in my opinon. I am looking forward to Hamer returning.
  • The reality is if we are relying on Hamer, the folly of selling Alnwick surely means we are near certainties for relegation.

    Chris Powell is a Legend.
  • Chris's statement seemed to have an unusual amount of waffle which leads me to think he wanted to say something else but impending P45 prevented him.
