I run to this sort of thing:
Energetic, repetitive, driving, plus for me you get the occasional big tune kick in which drives you on. With long mixes you can also quickly check your MP3 player and see how long you've been running.0 -

Ministry of Sound Running tracks is good.

Love the fact that Dave Pearce's trance anthems 2008 album got a mention on Charlton Life.......roll another fat one Dave!0

Film soundtracks are fantastic to run to. I don't mean the songs from films, I mean the actual composed music. Hans Zimmer, James Newton-Howard, Michael Giacchino are all great.
My personal favourites are the Bladerunner soundtrack (Vangelis) and the Inception soundtrack (Hans Zimmer). In fact, I'm just going out to run now, with both of those on my mp3 player!0 -
            You mean your IPod Leeroy?0

Yeah, the MoS running albums are good. My fav MoS album is Funky House Classics, well worth a listen.
+1 for the best of Rocky though. Could listen to that all day.

Anyone care to post any updates on this? I bought last year's Ministry of Sound Ibiza compilation which had some good tracks but too many fillers or stuff that I've heard ad nauseam when the kids insist on listening to Capital in the car, so I don't want to go for another one of those compilations as I get bored listening to it. I just want something that is quite fast paced so it keeps me interested while running, vocals optional I suppose! I've looked on iTunes and other than the compilations I don't really know what I'm looking for. I didn't much fancy the MoS running bug compilation for the same reasons above.0

THIS. Was going to suggest this before I saw Rodney's post. Every track is a classic.RodneyCharltonTrotta said:Ministry of Sound Running tracks is good.

TBH, I've bought the last two MOS running albums, including the marathon edition and they were a bit samey. Bought the MOS Superstars DJs album and guess what, its pretty much the same as the other two!
If you're using a smartphone, consider signing up for Spotify and paying the £9.99p/m fee and you can pretty much download and stream as much music as you could possibly want. Get the share my playlist app and you can pick someone elses playlist on genre and you discover all sorts of new music that way.0 -
Sadly just a plain old iTouch - 1st generation! So no 3G. Reliant on wifi.0

I've taken the plunge with Rocky! I'll let you know if it inspires me to a pb at lunchtime...0

Still on soundtracks. The Oblivion soundtrack (the extended one) is perfect for a long run.0

Any of the 'deep down and defected' house albums, keep you going for miles0

MOS soundtracks are samey cos they are basicallyt the same.
Every month a new CD with practically the same tracklist just in a different order.
I use podcasts for running. 'Above & Beyond'...'Hardwell'..etc.0 -
Back in the days when my joints allowed me to run I never listened to music. Just got out there and enjoyed the fresh air and exercise.0
