Yeah that bothered me - the whole big finish was about protecting her, but she gets shot anyway. Nice one James. Why did M need to be at the end of a fake breadcrumb trail anyway?
Still, in terms of it being Bondian, that's about as Connery as it gets: failing to achieve anything while women get hurt (ala Goldfinger, albeit without raping a lesbian into heterosexuality).
Big Nolan influence too. "He wanted us to lock him up...!"0 -
Brilliant Bond movie, followed the traditional basic Bond narrative structure but twisted it so home was under attack rather than infiltration, cinematography was well above usual Bond standard (the silhouette fight with the occasional gunshot illuminating the scene, the bad guy's long, single shot entrance framed over the shoulder), and with the perfect balance between humour and grit. I loved it. One of the best ever. I have to say I was impressed I watched it without the end being given away in previous reviews or comment threads (Dazzler bet you feel a big man giving the spoiler away, well done) and also the theme song is classic Bond - Adele may not be the best ever singer in the world but she is perfect for it.
10/10 - Daniel Craig owns Bond0 -
Oh sorry mate!
Ah well it has been mentioned in many a movie review.0 -
Great film. One of the easiest Bond plots to follow. Very well made as others have said and Craig does "dark" brilliantly. Probably 20 minutes too long but other wise very good indeed.0

Bit much having a go at someone for talking about the film and "spoiling" it if you open a thread about a film knowing you haven't seen it but want to?!0

Well, it's really really good isn't it? I mean fantastically good, and I say that with a massive sigh of relief following QoS. 2/3rds of the film was back to the high quality of Casino Royale, the last third was the best version of Straw Dogs I've ever seen.
Bardem is great Bond villian, sinister, nasty but cruically funny, I do think he used Heath Ledger as the Joker as his inspriation for the piece. Daniel Craig was just brilliant again, pitched perfect, best Bond for me, and to think those who doubted him.
I'd rank the film number 2 out of the 23 for me, Casino Royale is just that bit better (although you could hack 20 minutes out of it and you wouldn't notice it).0 -

No, you open the thread to see if people liked it, not to find out any spoilers or twists in the film.ISawLeaburnScore said:Bit much having a go at someone for talking about the film and "spoiling" it if you open a thread about a film knowing you haven't seen it but want to?!
And I have yet to see a review that mentions this extremely important part of the film.

Also, most people would not post something like that without at least giving a warning of spoilers.MrOneLung said:

He doesn't like Would Ya's but will tell you the ending to a film before you see it, is Dazzler actually a bird?0

Fair enough, each to their own, but there is no way I would have opened this thread if I had not seen the film and wanted to steer clear of it as there will always be people who will drop in something that you don't want to know. I wouldn't even read a review either as some reviews these days are written more like synopses.0

Magnificent film, superbly directed by Sam Mendes.
First one of Craig's I have had the opportunity to see in the cinema, it's so good I will probably have to go again to watch out for the bits I missed.
Loved the audible gasp in the theatre as the DB5 was unveiled.
I think, having read the books, that Craig is as near to the Bond that Ian Fleming described.0 -
I think I might be the only one that feels a little disappointed with this film. I am fan of Daniel Craig as Bond but this film didn't leave me with the usual great-plot after thought. I can't really put my finger on it but I really did think the plot was too Americanised and unoriginal. I will still buy the DVD though when it comes out. Casino Royale definately my favourite to date.0

I have a spoiler question I will post in a bit, look away now.0

At the start, why didn't she just shoot them both? She shoots Bond but then has a moment or two to get the villain as well.
And this is before the credits so don't worry too much.0 -
Saw it Sunday really good movie, proper actors and a decent plot/storyline. Javier Bardem was a terrific villain, Craig is the best Bond since Connery and it was good to see Ralph Fiennes getting a decent role. Best Bond movie for many, many years.0

I wondered this too but I suppose the shock of having just killed a fellow agent would have been a bit distracting. Couldn't handle the pressure and was probably why she decided to choose a secretary job.BrentfordAddick said:

Saw it last night and so glad I decided not to open this thread until I'd seen it, just in case. ;-)
I enjoyed the film, but I feel there were some pretty big holes in the plot, which I won't discuss here as that would involve massive spoilers. However, as someone else has mentioned it, the DB5. How can a Bond in his late 30's/early 40's (?) be the same guy who drove the DB5 when it was new? Great to see the DB5 though, by the way and I'm definitely having one when my numbers come up.0 -
Some massive holes in it, considering if you put the films in chronological order this would be one of the very early ones. In fact, this was set before the first appearance of the DB5.Saga Lout said:Saw it last night and so glad I decided not to open this thread until I'd seen it, just in case. ;-)

Massive holes in a James Bond plot ?
Well I fookin never ! Tbh, if it's not that obvious perhaps they should have a sign "Please suspend belief here..." or "Please check reality here..." before you enter screen 1.0 -
Anyone spot New Cross in the movie?0
-
I wondered where they'd shot that Island scene.0

New moving coming out now: Skyfallingin, a day in the life of a Charlton fan.0

If they were sticking to the timeline fair enough, but the current films are set in the present day, as they always have been.cafcpolo said:

I deliberately didn't open this thread until I had been to the see the film, due to possible spoilers.
Really enjoyed the film and can't wait to add it to my DVD collection. I think DC is very good as Bond and I really enjoyed the plot and the characters were spot on. Just a shame we didn't get to see more of Bérénice Marlohe (hubba, hubba).0
