1.5m is ridiculous money. As much as I think hes a decent player hes not worth half that.

I try to see both sides of the coin but for me - if we get a home grown talent or cheap buy that turns out to be special we should use their talent to improve our league position and attract other good quality players to Charlton.

Just like Parker, - a reluctant sale, but what did we do with the dosh ?
Spent it on JFH, Marcus Bent etc etc etc, when we would have done better with Parker in a red shirt.

The exception I guess, is an over-valuation like Jenkinson, but remember Andy Cole's £15m move from Newcastle. They sold him because they saw it as an over-valuation, but they were wrong.

Tricky stuff, but DS will go and CS will stay - in CP we trust.

Spot on he's worth a lot more than that, I hear the reason we are holding out for more dosh is so we can 'upgrade' our beer pumps at the valley, so we can get those super dooper fast ones.

the amount of money players are going for these days 1.5mil isn't far off his value

I think the rub of it is what is done with this money should the players leave?

If we get 2 players in that strengthen the midfield and a good standard right-back then maybe it's not such bad business. If we end up with some cast-off and a loanee that doesn't want to be here then questions need to be asked about where this money is going and anyone that thinks selling 2 of your starting 11 in this case is quite clearly mental.

Solly agreed terms with West Ham a month ago in the eventuality that we couldn't raise funds by the end of the window. If West Ham meet our valuation he'll be gone by the end of tomorrow.

If Lambert thinks he's good enough for the FAPL, he's worth at least1.5m, because of the ridiculous money splashing around in there. Of course it's all about his wages as well.

Where is the quote/source for this?

As has been said before. If we get 1.5 million and replace him with someone better then great. If we get 1.5 and replace him with a shit freebe or no one at all then it's bad business.

Should he go then I'm quite happy to say where it came from.

Really hope we keep Solly as selling him is a shit move and shows that we lack ambition. Stephens is an average player who is replaceable

If we honestly got offered 1.5m upfront for Stephens then we would not turn it down

I think we are all overlooking two factors here

First, Stephens was playing for Oldham Athletic two seasons ago. Now one of the most famous clubs in England are trying to seduce him to Villa Park. As we saw with Parker, a manager and board can only do so much if a player wants to move on. Ego is difficult to fight against.

Secondly, we should all offer SCP some credit. He put together a team of lower league wannabes for last season (most of whom I had never heard of) and now a year later at least 3 are attracting premiership interest and big money offers.

I hope they all stay but the biggest positive even if they do go to play reserve football and drive a Bentley, is that SCP knows how to pick players for CAFC and he will pick some more.

Going to be completely gutted if solly goes which looks like it will happen. I love that little fella. Our best player and 1st name on the team sheet for me.

Noooooooooooo He can't go. Stephens can but Solly will show a lack of ambition by the club.

think we should hold out for 2m especially if a chunk of it is going to oldham.

Wilson deserves a chance if/ when Solly goes. he needs a run of games and I'm sure he will improve.

Yeah, 'cos he's been absolutely rubbish in his first 20 games for us...oh......that's right....I forgot he's not even had a freaking chance yet and people are writing him off.

Apologies, I must have missed the memo from Head Office that Wilson is this years whipping boy in the event that we have to sell some of our better players.

  • There's less than 48 hrs to go all will be clear soon enough

its worrying because we are used to Solly dealing really well with most attacks down the right and being a really important link in a lot of our attacking play

If, and it is still an if, Solly goes I really hope Wilson isn't given a hard time as a result.

He did well at Stevanage, seems a committed and honest pro who came thru our youth system and was bought by Powell/.

He deserves to be judged on his own merits not blamed for not being Chris.
