  • I reckon this DS transfer story is fabricated, as many others are , the truth is out there! :-0

Do that sort of rubbish on a match thread and it's an instant ban and kicking round the back of the bike shed after school.

You can have a lot of fun round the back of the bike shed.
    I know I did.

  • Oh, I see. Another wum who thinks he's up there with Oscar Wilde and Mark Twain. Do that sort of rubbish on a match thread and it's an instant ban and kicking round the back of the bike shed after school.

Ha ha at least we can don't all take these things too seriously eh! ;o)

Agreed. Do they still have bike sheds, what with getting driven everywhere in Chelsea tractors....ah...jumpers for goalposts eh?

The phrase 'it's on the OS now' is sacred. You just don't fcuk about with that.

Thought only Henry was allowed to post those 5 little words....

I can't believe that even as respected and venerable poster such as yourself, Fanny, could get that wrong.

    It has always been:

"I'll believe it when it's on the OS"

    Nothing less, nothing more.

    : - )

  • Thanks, Henry...I think.

I'll have to look up "venerable" though.

Played for Chelsea and Spurs and had some success as a manager. Bit dodgy by all accounts.

1.5 Million bid rejected supposedly with many other clubs watching the situation:

Impressed if true, rejecting 1.5 million shows intent IMO

really makes you wonder how much some of our other players are worth - i know there's potential / age and playing style etc to factor in but lets face it, he was never a lynchpin of our side last year and was missing for a big chunk including the real crucial games when we 'broke' the rest of the division. I'm really liking the sound of this and whilst i was and am an admirer of the way he plays, i think we will benefit from a replacement due to the things he lacks.

if true I wonder if we're holding out for more money .. or someone in part-exchange

(let it be Heskey ... let it be Heskey ... DOH !!)

Absolutely mental. Fantastic that we've got the bottle to turn down a bid of this size but there is no way Stephens is worth £1.5m!!!!

If we can push it up to £2m, it would be an incredible bit of business

I just think its good we are not snapping their hands off. If we get 2 million for Stephens, I think we could sign 2 players with that money to improve the midfield.

Be interesting to see what we get for Solly if he does go because whatever Stevens is worth Solly has to be worth double

If other clubs are interested maybe we can start a bidding war
  • If we can get 2 million and Chrissy gets most of that for replacements then a great bit of business IMO.

Glad it's been rejected but surely if we're rejecting that we can reject the 2-3 mill bid for solly??

I second that mate. The later that it gets, the worse it is, as you do not get much time to replace players.

  • Also I'd be very tempted to take 1.5 mill, but if we can drive up the price then brilliant!!!!!

even if it is £1.5m it won't be that up front. Be contingent I suspect

So we've turned down 1.5m (sky) and are demanding 1.4 (crawley)? I respect the board sticking to their guns but not impressed with their business sense!
