They clearly don't teach geography in Croydon.
  • That is brilliant, im really starting to wonder if Palarse are a really good parody of a football club, just to funny.

its so pathetic that they have to put that on their shirts. you get them in every city, people who are so desperate to be a part of the areas that they think are a bit more fashionable or nasty, especially the youngsters.
south london just sounds better than croydon or surry. rappers always go on about folk who pretend that they come from an ends when really their from the country. why cant they just accept where they come from and embrace it. i swear they always need to try and prove themselves which makes them even more wanky.
stop shouting at everybody else "we're south london...honest" and accept what you are.

    Absolutely spot on.

They're a nothing club that haven't really achieved anything noteworthy since losing in a cup final twenty years ago. They're just crying out for acceptance.

Just checked and the address for Selhurst Park is SE25 6PU which is surely a London postcode, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Croydon only became part of London in 1965. They are 'officially' part of London, but I don't see how they can start preaching about how proud they are of it considering they spent half of their history playing in Surrey.

But they are based in Norwood which is London, I think.

my point and many others is not so much the fact that their ground is in the deepest parts of Thornton heath, its the fans. as charlton fans we accept that majority of our support comes from south east london and kent. they on the other hand have majority of their support from croydon and surry. they are so desperate to be recognised as a club for south london yet they are so far south that their is no chance of this ever happening. their clubs history speaks volumes of their continued confusion of what the hell they actually are. in fact I'm quite surprised they haven't given up on football and turned the pitch into a tennis court and suggest that they are the true south london tennis court and Wimbledon is just an imitation. imitation is probably the right word to describe palace.... they are an imitation of a football club... and a poor one at that.

So if a majority of our support came from Kent then we would be a Kent club despite being geographcally located in South East London.?

So are Manchester United a Surrey club as well?

Lets not worry about facts getting in the way of slagging Palace.

in the year 1965 that area did become south london but for a tiny square bit of land. on that land was a sainsburys. at the back of that sainsburys just past the condiment aisle situated crystal palaces football ground. these few yards in south london were given to the people of Surry and of Croydon in a gesture to say sorry for not giving them city status. now this is FACT.

its called banter against a rival side. why do you keep defending them? ive already explained i realise that they are in deep south london, making a joke about them because they feel so sensitive about their south london status is something i like to do. i don't make up that alot of their support comes from croydon and surry. we all know that.
we all know that they have reinvented themselves on many occasion.
in my opinion i find them a joke of a club. and for them to put south london and proud on the back of their shirts makes me laugh at how pathetic it seems to me.

edit- post below by cafctom explains better why its so pathetic and desperate to have south london and proud on the back of their shirts.

Norwood is part of Croydon, which as I stated earlier only became London in 1965.

They may officially be in London, but the point being made is that they are trying to push the point across that they are South London. Everyone knows that there is a bit of confusion and doubt about it all, hence why they feel the need to put it on their shirts. Desperation.

If Manchester United put 'Manchester and proud' on their shirts or Tottenham put 'North London and proud' on theirs', I can imagine the reaction would be a bit like "Right.....stating the obvious aren't we?"

  • For me it does not matter if they are in london or not, the joke is that they put that slogan on there Official team kit.

On the subject of kits - I need to get my u11 team a new set of shirts for next season. Does anyone on here work in the sports retail sector and / or can anyone handle the printing as we have a sponsor who needs logo doing etc. Or is there anyone recommended for both - I am based in Surrey.
