At it again. If I was in charge I would ban the cheating git for six months. I hate it when footballers act like tarts.

he goes looking for penalties so much it's embarrassing and his dives make it worse , it may have been a penalty anyway but his theatrics make it look so much worse

Looks like Young is the one who stepped on the defenders foot.

Dives like that really devalue, Manchester Utd achievement, if they manage to win the league.

I think the penalty decision was debatable, but you can kind of understand why it was given.

However, he just seemed to take off. Absolutely disgraceful.

I actually like Ashley Young as a player, think he's great to watch.

However, I do think a lot of the anger and frustration here is being misplaced. Let's say we didn't manage to score a goal in the 75th min yesterday and BWP or any other player did the same and won us a penalty. Would you be that angry?

Ashley Young shouldn't be 'guilty', but the officiating is what is at fault.

Or you could say he did well for his team
  • Ref's fault as much as Young's - should have spotted him sticking his book into the defender and jumping three foot in the air!!

That's a bit like blaming to Old Bill for a murder if they fail to catch to culprit.

No, it's nothing like it. Not one bit.

The referee is watching Ashley Young fly through the air with his own two eyes.

Mark Halsey always seems to make at least one or 2 very contentious decisions every game, I remember many at the Valley. Not a good referee.
  • Will keep happening until retrospective punishments. Ruining the game. That and managers like Fergie refusing to condemn his players.

THe Fa must start doing something about this. It is starting to spoil yop level football.

Whether hes talented or not, whether that was BWP or not, whether there was contact or not, whether it benefited his team or not, it was a distateful side of the modern game and makes him look a twat, one day when hes older he may wince when he watches it back, have paused for thought and yep twat is still the word that comes to mind.......

Police say there is an on-going investigation at Old Trafford as they are searching for the Sniper that shot Ashley Young as he entered the oppositions penalty area

It's not the modern game. You never heard of Francis Lee?
It's football, it's full of cheats from the playground to Wembley.
And to hear Robbie Savage of all people going on about it on 5Live today just sums up what an awful sport football is sometimes.

Far too easy for people to take the moral high ground. I try not to be a hypocrite so in my opinion I won't criticise as if one of our players "cheated" to win a penalty and it was a goal that meant we went on to win a league/promotion I wouldn't care one bit.

    I would.

Video technology should come in, teams should be allowed 1 or 2 failed referals a game like in cricket. Would weed out these cheats. Also a good idea would be banning players if they've been found to have deliberatley misled the referee retrospectively in simulating a foul

Yeah, but you've never played the game, you don't know!

And it was offside, so surely the first offence so couldn't have (not even shouldn't have) been a penalty. Therefore no question of a sending off. And the FA are a complete disgrace for not overturning it. Condoning the officials incorrect decisions and the advantages Man U benefit from

The problem with retrospective bans is that they can only be applied where there was cllearly no contact - i.e. blatant dives. In the Ashley Young dive he undoubtedly makes the most of the challenge but there was contact, even if it was initiated by him. He will claim that dive or not, the referee made the decision. Occasionally players get booked - Carroll for Liverpool v Newcastle recently, but it seems that's the price they pay - the odd booking compensates for a few cheap penalties.

At least Ferguson has been shamed in to admitting Young 'over did it'. But then spoiled it by saying it was a definitely penalty. Therefore no credability. Definitely not a penalty in the real world. But different rules for Man Utd.
