In general, has done remarkably well and he and the scouts should be applauded for recruiting the right blend of players. I hope very many of them continue to excel next year and prove that they are a cut above League 1 standard.

I've been quite nice with my marking, but the way I'm seeing it I'm loathed to give players less than 5 or 6 unless they've actively damaged the team. For instance I'd always give the likes of Halford or Faye very low scores but Leon Clarke didn't do us any harm and filled a gap so I'm still giving him 5. Someone like Sullivan has always done well when called on, it's just been very rare he's had to step up

Mikel Alonso 10/10, just reminded me of when we had Nicola Berti pre-season. In the real world, an analysis would not be favourable, but it's nice to know the calibre of players are becoming more interesting to over-paid Southend footballers.

BWP is getting 9.5 - 10; but was it not Parky who set thsi up?
  • Options
Ben Hamer; 7.5/10 - can give me heart attacks but looks like he will progress well and is a character
Andy Hughes; 7/10 - dependable, but what happened behind the scenes
Cedric Evina; 7/10 - unlucky to have Wiggins in front of him but seemed capable
Michael Morrison; 9/10 - immense at the back with some nice goals too
Matt Taylor; 9/10 - immense as well
Danny Green; 7.5/10 - not quite the fancy dan on the wing I was hoping for but a great crosser
Dale Stephens; 8/10 - at times sublime, shame he missed a few weeks with the injury which stopped the momentum
Paul Hayes; 8/10 - thought he linked well with BWP, unlucky to be dropped and stuck behind Yann
John Sullivan; 7/10 - decent enough when called upon
Danny Haynes; 7/10 - technically fine, but needs the goals to back him up
Rhoys Wiggins; 9/10 - excellent full back
Jason Euell; 6/10 - love the fella but this was never a 2nd coming
Bradley Pritchard; 7.5/10 - diamond in the rough
Danny Hollands; 9/10 - tireless in midfield, until he got tired!
Lee Cook; 7/10 - mainly for that cross to DNG, but is his heart set with us?
Leon Cort; 8/10 - solid defender and dangerous for our set pieces
Michael Smith; 5/10 - can't really comment as I never saw him play
Yann Kermorgant; 10/10 - trés bon!
Darel Russell; 7/10 - scored some vital goals but let us down on more than one occasion
Dany N'Guessan; 7.5/10 - scored 3 goals in 4 but still not quite sure...
Ruben Bover Izquierdo; 5/10 - can't really comment as I never saw him play
    Leon Clarke; 4/10 - why??
    Bradley Wright-Phillips; 9.5/10 - at last we got a 20 goal-a-season striker again

    5 being my base-line

Ben Hamer; 8/10 generally done a good job, should keep developing
Andy Hughes; 6/10 did what he needed to do
Cedric Evina; 6/10 fine as 2nd choice at this level on a free
Michael Morrison; 9/10 very good at this level and hopefully will step up to the Champ
    Matt Taylor; 9/10 very solid
Danny Green; 6/10 played his part but needs to improve if he's going to play in the Champ
Dale Stephens; 6/10 another that's played his part but need to see an improvement
Paul Hayes; 6/10 did well when in the team, don't see him as a Champ player though
    John Sullivan; 6/10 see Evina
Danny Haynes; 5/10 not seen enough of him, quick but yet to really show what else he has/doesn't have
Rhoys Wiggins; 10/10 couldn't have got anyone better, loads of potential
Jason Euell; 3/10 said before we signed him I didn't see where he fitted in. Few cup goals push him above Clarke
Bradley Pritchard; 7/10 good find from non-league
Danny Hollands; 8/10 don't think he's outstanding but he is just what we needed at this level, a proper box to box CM.
Lee Cook; 7/10 good option on the left
Leon Cort; 8/10 similar to Taylor, been patient and shown he's just as capable at this level
    Michael Smith; 6/10 promising
Yann Kermorgant; 10/10 see Wiggins. Obviously less about potential at his age, but shown why Leicester thought he'd suit English football
Darel Russell; 6/10 has done a job
Dany N'Guessan; 7/10 not sure I want him permanently, but has scored goals and offered something different to our other strikers and wingers
Ruben Bover Izquierdo; 5/10 Doubt he'll make it but he's a cheap gamble from non-league.
Leon Clarke; 2/10 not here long but looked nowhere near good enough.
Bradley Wright-Phillips; 10/10 exactly what we needed to get out of this league.

Interesting that the two highest rated were the lads that Powell would have known from Leicester.

Too subjective to rate but will comment instead:-
Ben Hamer; Love a keeper who comes for everything, young & learning. Good buy
Andy Hughes; Limited player but many wins when he played. But jury still out
Cedric Evina; Would walk into most sides in this division. Good cover
Michael Morrison; Questions re pace and understanding with keeper but good signing
Matt Taylor; Slow but copes with most at this level. CCC squad player
Danny Green; Unconvinced, lacks pace to get behind and make his crossing count
Dale Stephens; Obvious talent wasted since return, but our style has changed. Jury out
Paul Hayes; Did well, unlucky to be replaced by the Eiffel tower. Expect him to go
John Sullivan; Good cover but expect him to be replaced by either youngster
Danny Haynes; Need to see more. Possibly fastest Charlton player I’ve seen
Rhoys Wiggins; Premiership quality, hopefully with us
Jason Euell; Old pal’s signing. Mistake then, mistake now
Bradley Pritchard; Quality, we will see more of this player
Danny Hollands; Excellent signing but what is his best role?
Lee Cook; Unconvinced, prefer Harriott, don’t expect him back
Leon Cort; Great signing, but prefer younger quicker option in CCC. Good cover
Michael Smith; Not seen enough, but seems useful punt
Yann Kermorgant; Monster, shame we didn’t get him years ago. Needs to shoot more
Darel Russell; Not seen enough of him – his fault, unlikely to see more
Dany N'Guessan; Good impact player but not sure if good enough for CCC
Ruben Bover Izquierdo; see Michael Smith, but looked useful if lightweight
Leon Clarke; Disagree with most, scared defences when introduced but not fit/prolific
Bradley Wright-Phillips; 20+ goals is a success but not sure of role next year
