Wow! I know this sounds sad but I signed Haynes and Rivaldo on my footie manager game (before SCP did). Maybe I am the new special one ;)

Interesting comparison with JF Piggybank...easy to forget he was one of the top PL goalscorers, however we got hold of him when he was, in football terms at least, heading for a bus pass. Ditto for Rivaldo I'm afraid.

If it's true I wish we brought him in. It was probably a very vague approach...

    enough said.
    Spot on.

Rivaldo has probably never heard of Charlton.
Of course he has, everyone has heard of us!

Yeah, we're massive! We were 4th in the premier league and won an FA Cup once! My only worry is that he hadnt of heard of the tin pot clubs around us so wouldn't put in a shift, even in front of the MASSIVE crowds we get at the wembley of south east london
i hope this is a joke. i dont want our fans becoming like those porky wendys up north. We're not massive. we are IMMENSE!!!!1

    Filty cheat.
Was he the one in the world cup who went down in agony when an opponent kicked the ball at him? It was hit so gently it wouldn't have knocked the skin off a rice pudding as I remember.

Not only that, he went down clutching his face when the ball clearly hit him in the thigh

yeah but it was against turkey so thats ok.

    i dont like the turkish.
  • While I agree signing Rivaldo could of been a mistake - I think it is more to do with upsetting the current balance of the squad, than whether he could do a job for us. The fact he is still playing and wants to carry on for as long as he can suggests to me his heart would be in it. He does not need the money, does not need the recognition but he just wants to play. Some of his recent clubs for example in Uzbekistan and currently in Angola show he is up for a challenge. However not what we need for our current squad and not in the format of player selection we saw last summer. Good luck to him in Angola.

Like Eltham I suspect we may have been one of a number of clubs he was offered to.

It would have been interesting ,would he have been a Di Canio or a Hasselbaink ? Now we will never know

Would have been good left wing cover for JJ, wouldn't expect (or be able to) play every week and would have been incredible for our youngsters to learn from.

I think it is a great chance missed for the club and would probably have earned us more money than he would cost.

Turning Rivaldo down is why Chris Powell is such a brilliant manager already. He don't get attracted by big names and all that nonsense, he sticks to his plans and it looks like it's working, the odd very occasional blip but that's what happens, we're still 1st!
