    Jimi was simply unique
Absolutely agree, Ken. Can't hear Red House or Manic Depression, for example, without marvelling that Hendrix could play with such mastery and feeling at such a young age. The greatest rock guitarist there will probably ever be. Big claim, I know, but it's almost 50 years since he was around and no one has been better since, although it's difficult to keep up with new bands when most of the stuff on the radio is RnB/hiphop/urban/whatever the latest word for it is.

It's probably because I don't take an interest in that kind of music that it all tends to sound the same to me - with the odd standout exception, like Tinie Temper's wondrous Pass Out - or perhaps everything that can be done in music has already been done and the only thing left is to keep doing it over and over. At any rate, I now find myself listening to things I haven't bothered with for thirty years or more and mostly today I shall be listening to Rockabilly. Simple, raw, full of energy and that realgone crazy beat!
