    Sad news.

One of the great football writers and authors. Arguably the best of my lifetime and he maintained his high standards throughout a long life.

    RIP Brian.

Really sad. One of the greatest football writers. Used to avidly read World Soccer magazine and most other titles and articles he put his name too. RIP Brian.

I have met him, chatted with him. A man steeped in football and one of the few writing brilliantly about the game, both fiction and non fiction during the sixties and beyond. Introduced decent literature to young football lovers.
At one time I thought it was only myself and the much missed Kevin Nolan who’d read his wonderful novel ‘The Rise of Gerry Logan’ where we get a name check near its end.
I see Brian Glanville as a football writing grandee and national treasure.
He had a wonderful life in football.
    RIP Brian.

Great writer.  Only reported on us occasionally, and his match reports were a class apart.

Proper old school Fleet Street legend. Brian was unusual among the name sportswriters in the 90s and 00s in that he was always happy to chat to the locals in the press room. Possibly the clique avoided him, but he was a giant: Sad news.

Sad news indeed. A legend of sports journalism. The first footballl book I ever read was his "History of the World Cup". RIP
