  • No POYT dinner this year?
Think it’s being held near the beginning of next season. With the play offs going on till late May I believe NJ couldn’t agree a suitable date. Understandable in the circumstances. Think I’m correct in saying this?

There are scenarios where, if we won by six or seven and the other game was a draw, we could finish above Stockport based on total wins (25 for Charlton, 24 for Stockport) where as for Wycombe it would be based on head-to-head records (6-1 in our favour this season).

Here are the criteria in order as per the EFL handbook:

    1. Points
    2. Goal difference
    3. Goals scored
    4. Head to head (away goals don’t count)
    5. Number of wins
    6. Goals scored away from home
    7. Overall fair play record
    8. Fewest red cards due to serious foul play / violent conduct
    9. Play off match at a neutral venue

Would the play off at a neutral venue go to extra time then penalties?

Thankfully we won’t have to find out. :-)

Couldn’t deal with two or three days of “should we lose to Stockport so we can play Wycombe instead of Reading?”
  • Gutted not to be there today, only single seats left in most of the place. As Bow would say, hope the place is baaaaancin
  • ● Charlton Athletic have lost just one of their last seven league games against Burton Albion (W4 D2), failing to score in just one of those matches.

    ● Burton Albion have won just one of their five away league games against Charlton Athletic (D1 L3), a 2-1 victory in February 2021.

    ● When finishing a league campaign on home soil, Charlton have won each of their last three games without conceding a goal in the process.

    ● Burton have previously finished just one of their Football League campaigns against opposition from London, a 2-1 loss to Barnet in May 2012. Excluding 2019-20, the Brewers have failed to win any of their last eight final day EFL fixtures (D2 L6).

  • Think we should definitely be giving Kanu and/or Mbick minutes. We’re very light up top going in to the play offs and could do with them getting some sharpness, particularly Kanu, as there’s a reasonable chance they’ll be needed.
Agreed we may well rely on Kanu given our injuries and I thought he was having a good season before the injury

If wycombe win today are Stockport still favourites?

With many fans/critics you are only as good or bad as your last match.
So after beating Wycombe, Charlton were the Dog's bollocks and many dared to dream; after the defeat against Wrexham the opinion was by the usual suspects, we were just bollocks !

So the Answer is the odds will obviously change if Wycombe beat Stockport and finish 3rd as their dodgy run may be over.

  • In the play off matches, perhaps any only at Wembley, will there be VAR?
I think it is true to say we have never played a VAR match.
  • Do print at home tickets work if you don’t print them and just use your phone at the turnstiles?

That’s how I usually do it and haven’t had a problem

    Thank God for that. Cheers.
  • I don’t expect to see Jones, Berry or Small (if the last two are carrying knocks), but otherwise I’d play our best team to keep everybody sharp and hopefully go into the play-offs with some momentum.

Whatever team we put out, we just have to trust the manager and the medical team.

If you want a ticket printed out, just nip over to main ticket office near main entrance. They printed mine out for Northampton game.

  • I have a under 11 ticket free to a good home! (Lower West Block C - its on its own but if someone is buying a child ticket before the game in the lower West I'm sure you can find 2 seats together)

Believe there is VAR in Wembley play off finals. Don't think we have played with VAR before.

  • Very unexciting game today.

All I hope is that he rests the right players, that's the main focus, all the rest is just noise.

Maybe a few players would benefit from experiencing a packed out Valley.

Fairly confident we will be playing Wycombe so I'm not too bothered what order the home leg is in, only concerned if it's Stockport but I don't see them losing today.

Thank you for all the match previews FA 👍🏻
  • Dress rehearsal atmosphere for play offs. I note the club have openened final two west stand blocks near thge South Stand .

For selfish reasons I want to finish 4th. And also think it’ll be Wycombe Wanderers.
  • Just been chatting to Glasshalffull in the fans bar.
    Brilliant to see him back.

Looking forward to it.  It will be my boys’ first game.  The oldest is almost two and a half and I hadn’t planned to take him so soon, but his cousin has just been signed by the academy and will be on the pitch at half time together with the other academy players, so that’s the main reason.

the only thing is that because his mum wants to be there, we’re also having to bring our newborn who isn’t even 6 weeks old yet 😂

Not quite sure how that will play out and if we’ve had someone ever attend the valley at a younger age.
    How is Katrien? ;)
