I’ve seen lots of people are staying in Chester over the weekend so I thought I’d give you some places to go and f anyone wants any extra info then feel to inbox me
getting here via car the M6 is the quickest but also on a Friday or Saturday could be hell. When I often drive back I go back via the M54 at Wolverhampton
train wise
there’s a new bar opened at Chester train station (I’ve not been) which sells ales and IPA etc called the tap room. However also across from the station is a pub called the town crier. Which has a big outdoor area and where I’ll probably head to prior to heading to the game.
Places to eat
Chester Market- this has been done up with everything food wise you can think of. So if there’s a group of you and can’t decide what to eat then this is a good place. It also has a bar in there too.
Brewski-chain restaurant that has done very well with your classic dirty fires and burgers.
Hickory’s- local to Chester and again and American BBQ place but really nice right on the river Dee. Very popular if the weather is nice and the circus owners like eating there after games too….(maybe stay clear if we lose on Saturday)
Bunning & Price pubs- The Architect by the race course with a great view looking out of it and big beer garden.
The old harkes arms along the canal and close to the station. Both sell the same menu with good food and beer.
Upstairs at the grill- very expensive but worth it alone for the steaks and a trip across to bar lounge for a nice cocktail or 2 will always go down well.
Drink;
over 3 micropubs in Chester but the cellar near the station probably the best.
There are 2 spoons in town not the nicest but square bottle closest to station.
Boxing- off the wall is the sports bar/night club that’ll show it plus the green king down watergate street (lots of bars down that road).
Night out-Rosie’s the only real night club not been in about 8 years so can’t comment but I usually go out to church bar (yes it’s a church), popcorn or bar lounge for a drink and music.
Could go on about other places but just a quick guide! Enjoy your stays and see you in the town crier pre game! UTA!
