  • I'd be surprised if we get Knibbs too. I think he's off to Pompey or Wrexham

Very coy in the interview, saying well let you know and he's not talking about other people's players.

Ramsay had an injection on Tuesday so missed out because he had to rest up a couple of days

Can all the male CL members on here grow a pair at least until the winter window opens.
    Thanks for sharing Sam 👍🏻

With the money we are spending, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get Knibbs.
  • Surely we’re not paying 3.5 upfront rising to 5.

I think he could well be a good signing for us but that fee if true is over the top.

Just you wait util his goals propel us into the Prem  :D

Anyway, we couldn't afford Harry Kane.

3.5m, up to 5 with add ons is literally bonkers.
Makes him our most expensive signing in history if add-ons are hit I think?
With adds on Darren Bent’s transfer fee was £5.175M
Jeffers was £12.5m paid up front
    It was £2.5m
    You're absolutely sure it wasn't £12.5m?
Not sure if I’ve missed a whoosh moment here somewhere.

I hope we end up paying 5mil because that will mean we’ve been promoted to the Premier League and he’s scored shit loads of goals .
  • I need Rich Cawley to confirm that fee before i believe it.

1 year left on his deal, never scored a goal above league one level, surely we haven't agreed to pay 3.5m rising to 5m with add ons.

3.5m up front seems excessive, I would have thought 2m rising to 3.5m more in the ball park I was expecting. It's not as if we're fighting off clubs with bigger budgets than us for him.

Has Rodwell told the Americans about FFP?
Think it works differently in the champ. Allowed to lose 13m a season or 39m over 3
Don’t get me wrong I’m glad to see us backed but we lost £13.8m in the last accounts and we didn’t spend any significant fees. Obviously more Champ money etc but we’ll need to be very clever for the next 2 years, we will probably have to sell someone at some point
I think as long as you are buying young players with resale value it shouldn’t be a problem. Apter and Kelman could have a high resale in a couple of years then that covers us and then some.

We never paid that much for Killer Hales, did we?  :D

That’s exactly the point 100% spot on. Our owners have money and there is a lot of worse investments than spend a few million on young players, even if only one goes on to bigger things the overall ROI is very good

Agree it seems steep - however I’ve been told tonight it’s a done deal

Jury's out for me on Kelman. It took him a good few seasons to find any kind of goalscoring form in League One including looking pretty powder puff up front while on loan at Gillingham. Who's to say the same won't happen in the Championship?
He's 23...... did you expect him to be scoring a hatful of goals in the Championship as an infrequently used teenager?
My post is about his form in League One prior to last season. Have another go at reading it and try again.

Yep. Nothing like that figure. £2m something is about right. Danny Murphy was around the same figure iirc

No idea what the add ons are.....

    Promotion
    International caps
    Sell on fees.

Remember Gomez. We are still waiting for some of the "add ons" many years later.

And once we are in the Premier then who cares.. 😉
  • Aww... But I wanted to wear my conspiracy theory hat... ;)
Shuddup & get yer cock tattooed  :#

  • I'm happy we've signed Kelman as we need a striker but if the fee is true then i think it's crazy. I totally get that he's young and we've bought him for the potential and the sell on value if he does well, but personally when we're in year one in the championship and looking to survive, if we've got that kind of money to spend on a striker then i think maybe spending half that and outbidding Wrexham for someone like Ryan Hardie would've been smarter. Go with someone tried and trusted to keep us up and then spend big next summer on a striker.

That said, i totally trust Jones and Chapple so if they think he's worth it, then who am i to question them?!

Is it though? In today's market... a 23 year old who just scored 27 goals last season. How much did brentfors pay for Tony and market has gone bonkers since
