Kaminsky Mannion Ramsay NEW NEW (Burke) Mitchell Jones Mitchell Gillesphey Bell Edwards NEW Coventry NEW Docherty Anderson Carey Berry Olaofe Campbell Godden Leaburn
Is the minimum we still need, ideally we need 2 more attacking players on top of that, and move along Taylor, Maynard-Brewer and Ahadme permanently and Asiimwe, Kanu and MBick on loans.
I'd want an experienced attacking midfielder/winger, and an out and out striker, both with a lot of pace. The wingbacks we'd need players who aren't afraid of getting forward and crossing the ball, but can have a pop at goal too. Burke as the 6th CB makes sense if we keep him fit, but if he's not available for 30% of the games we'd need the RWB to be class so there's no qualms about playing them and shifting Ramsay to RCB
Coventry may step up, and we don't know enough about Carey, but I don't think Docherty, Anderson and Berry are good enough to keep us in the Champ. Unless Jones plans to keep the ball sailing over their heads. We still need a Cullen level midfielder.
The raiding of Luton last year wasn't really a success, Campbell was a dud, Potts and Hylton too, Lualua before that, only Berry has been decent
There's a big difference between a L1 side picking up the unwanted former players of a Championship side recently relegated from the Premier League and taking the best players from a newly L1 side to play in a higher division because they can't afford to keep them anymore
I see Bell and Burke as sensible, solid backline additions with plenty of Champ and Prem experience between them that won’t cost the world. They’ll supplement the defence and hopefully free up a decent wad of cash to go get the quality RWB, CM and ST we need
Both are great options but probably not fit enough to play every game, which is fine because Jones and Gillesphey will start the season first choice
Guessing the plan for RWB is to start with Ramsay and if we’re winning he will just play the full 90 there because there’s no one defensively better. If we need a goal wouldn’t be surprised to see NJ move TC to RWB last 20-30 bring on another striker and drop Ramsay back into the RCB position.

I’m confident Ramsey will start at RCB, that’s clearly where he’s been at his best for us. I’d like to think we’ll definitely bring in a RWB, hopefully a quality one.

If we’re bringing in Burke Ramsay will definitely not be playing RCB he will be playing RWB. Burke isn’t the kind of player you bring in to sit on the bench. If he gets injured then potentially you look at moving Ramsay to RCB but whether we sign a RWB or not this summer probably determines whether that’s a likely route cause if Burke was to get injured NJ may fancy giving Z.Mitchell a runout

We raided Luton as a l1 club when they were in the championship. We raided them for players that couldn’t get into their championship team.
we are now the championship team and they are in L1. We are now raiding them for their better players, not squad players
We are signing Alfie Doughty, Mark McGuinness, Jordan Clark, and Tahith Chong? Great news.
Obviously can't sign their other two former best assets in Morris & Aasgaard as they've already been picked up.
Clark wouldn't surprise me.
Would be a good pick up, my point was, we aren't signing Lutons better players, so it's a bit of a false narrative.
Kaminski you could say so, and Bell was a regular player for them, but not one of their better players. Luton have some very good players, obviously two of them they have sold for a fee other than Kaminski.
There's nothing wrong with signing the very best players of a relegated team, but that isn't what we have done/are doing.

It feels more like NJ signing solid experience that he knows. Would have loved McGuiness as a CB.
All the talk about who deserves a starting place is a bit early. NJ will hopefully have most players in before we go on tour and he will try different players in different formations and decide upon what he thinks is the best starting eleven. I doubt very much he has already decided before seeing how pre season goes.
I like our transfer business so far generally. Feels like we're signing players to suit our style. But I think the 3/4 final signings must be of a real mixture of quality, creativity and pace to improve what we already have. Don't feel we've got enough creative quality in the squad yet to score enough.
Unless some of you know some billionaires on the level of Brady & Ryan Reynolds who are willing to invest in the club then I suggest we should just shut up and get on with it. If Jones and Chapple think they are the best we can afford for each position then so be it. If we’re so out of our depth for this league then maybe we should ask the EFL to just relegate us without a fight or something. There was more positivity around the likes of Hemed & Kayal ffs
Burke is a bit of a punt to me. Great when he is fit but knowing his injury record, that will be a quarter to half the season at most unless Abbott can work his magic. Feel we need a couple more attacking players. Davis Keillor-Dunn would be the perfect signing for me. I know his transfer fee will be steep but I think we should at least try to make it happen.
Just got a feeling that with a full pre season and working under the conditions Jones and Dr Abbott will have set, we might be pleasantly surprised at a certain Kaheim Dixon.
He gets into every Jamaican squad and yes, he’s raw, but with the Championship being a different league and having less of the ball in general, he might be a decent option in transition this coming season. Who knows.
Signing 3 defensive players from a team who just shipped 69 goals and were relegated seems a punt but at least Jones / Chapel know them all well. Our defense was solid last season though and maybe these are the cheaper players (Burke/Bell) who improve the defensive depth and add experience without being guaranteed starters. My hope is it means we keep serious budget for forward players as we were often out played in midfield in L1 and I would worry going into the season with Anderson, Docherty and Berry as mainstays, whilst Carey seems a punt who performed for 3-4 months at the end of last season.
Bell and Burke are fine as squad players, but aren't signings that step up the quality of the 1st 11 significantly.
I think both if fit will be on equal status with anyone in our squad. If we’re just bringing in players just for cover then we’ve got it spectacularly wrong. In fact I’d say both will feature more than not if available.

just like we didn’t sign the players you mentioned a year ago when we raided Luton
im really struggling to understand your point
potts had been released and hylton was from Northampton but the earlier post said we raided Luton and the signings were poor
Some Luton fan messaged me on twitter and here is what he said re Burke, Kaminski & Bell:
