I’ve seen some rumours of ex players returning but Daney Murphy ? He’s knocking on a bit . Surprised Wrexham never made a move.TheAddicks4Ever said:DEADLINE DAY SIGNING !!! weve signed a new CEO Dane Murphy...(subject to EFL approval)0 -

I'll always remember the game where we got relegated at Bolton and during the game he played and actually jumped to head a ball and the sprinkling of Charlton fans in attendance all went 'ooooooo'Bilko said:

Don’t shoot the messenger hearing that jones could only be moving if he doesn’t get what was promised. According to my source the board are only offering a league one budget currently and of course if there is no ambition from the club I personally don’t blame him for walking. Oxford United had the lowest budget last year and spent 5 million in all my years of supporting Charlton I can’t remember spending near that. Serious questions ly with the board if you ask me wouldn’t judge any stories coming out when something deeper could be pushing the deal closer.

Decent scoring record but I have watched a fairly large amount of Lithuanian football because I know a couple of players over there and it is a piss poor standard.
None of his goals are especially spectacular - he seems to be a "Johnny on the spot" type of striker which is probably why he appears to be so coveted. It is a highly sought after knack.
He has had a massive "glow-up" in the last 18 months judging by his ELO rating and he would currently be second to Matty Godden on that metric.
Can't imagine he would cost a lot so potentially a low-risk punt

Just speculating but maybe O'Connor is aware he might not get much game time ahead of Jones. Obviously all players back themselves and love a challenge but plenty are realistic with this stuff tooBraziliance said:Find it hard to believe that both Sean Roughan and Paudie O'Connor are gonna end up in League1 again with Huddersfield and Wycombe.
Especially O'Connor, we should be all over him if we persist with a back 5, he's literally Lloydys twin.

Which is a shame as he would probably start for us or at the very least be good cover in a championship squad. Him and Lloyd as 2 of your back 3 centre backs, good luck with any type of aerial threat.
Only Jones & O'Connor above him statistically for defenders. Piergianni is a top, top defender.
A very good defender. Whether or not he could play at a higher level we probably won't know.
But every stat he has suggests he could, and there have been far worse players that have played championship football as a centre back. I could name you a fair few for Charlton alone.
Anyway, not much point discussing. It's a bait comment and not entirely relevant.2 -
Cornick was alright about 5 years ago but really hasnt done much since
I'll take a swerve on that. Harry Arter vibes for me27 -

NJ has to have at least two ex-Luton per season. It's just the rules.7

We do not what NJ instructions were. Given that he is a nutter, quite a few players have had bizarre games, possibly down to instructions. Has MM attributes? Yes.FishCostaFortune said:
Did a good impression of a broken Chuks in the play off final, when he lost the ball and didn’t bother tracking back.SteveACS said:
I think Mbick is being groomed as Chuks 2.0. Come on with 20 minutes to go, cause as much disruption as possible, and put the wind up defenders.Braziliance said:

I'd imagine that Ramsay would be the cover for Offiah (if he signs), and if OO is injured Ramsay just moves across with another centre back coming in. Asiimwe i think will be loaned out.Henry Irving said:I feel at lot will depend on how much NJ believes he can rely on the U21s such as Asiimwe, Zak, Enslin, etc can provide effective cover.
If he thinks, for example, Asiimwe has learnt enough from his time with Walsall to be back up then we only need one right back such as Offiah.
There is also the question of whether Miles will be fit in time. Either way I think we need at least one or more likely two more front players and another CB such as Famewo.
That makes five signings including Carey by my count as a minimum.
The problem we have in going up a division is that it probably makes it less likely for any of our kids to come in. Jones didn't fancy many of them at league one level so he's unlikely to risk them in the championship, and we also now (thank god) don't have the EFL trophy games to give them minutes, so at best i think Zak Mitchell will stay and i'd expect the likes of Asiimwe, Enslin, Mbick to be loaned out.
Karoy could do with a full season loan under his belt for a League1 team, could argue the same for Kanu, or even League2, as long as they both play 40+ games. Would like to see Zak also get a loan for a decent league 1 side.
Loan the rest where we can, if they couldn't make an impression in League 1 under Jones, it can only get worse.
Is he going to be as good as Chuks in his prime? Of course not. But as a U21 he doesn't count towards salary caps, or whatever it's called in the Championship...1 -
Abdallah Sima anyone? Brighton possibly wanting rid.0

Fair comment. But when I made this comment it was unclear whether Jones was staying conversations continued and he signed a new deal. Maybe because he sat down with the board they listened to his terms and his new contract was produced after listening to wage demands, budget etc . Surely if he had no interest in looking elsewhere it wouldn’t have been a story floating about for 2+ days. I also did say ‘don’t shoot the messenger’ it was a rumour but if you ask me things added up there.Covered_End_Lad said:

Probably another one like Offiah where they know they can get a bit of a fee so are protecting themselves. Can't see him ever breaking into Brightons first teamBrownie12 said:

Know nothing about him, BUT, looking through the Brighton squad (it's a big one) Offiah is not listed, AND they have goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, just 23, had a lot of games up n down the leagues on loan, only problem is, he's 6'2", bit on the small side for a keeper i m o, BUT he's a good reputationGisappointed said:Abdallah Sima anyone? So Jones signing a five year deal rather makes your story look a bit silly. By the way, 'don't shoot the messenger' sits firmly with 'in all honesty' as trying to make the reader think that your info is above board and not to be challenged. Either you enjoy peddling nonsense or your alleged 'in the know' is taking the piss out of you.0
