Currently injured but I think that could be a good prediction. Would probably need them to cover a good chunk of his wages but that’d be a good signingMarcusH26 said:Southampton have brought in 2 right backs now. I wonder if Nathan might try to reunite himself with James Bree?0 -
God I’d love us to go for Marc Leonard who’s struggling for league game time at Brum. Pipe dream but I think he’d really suit us.4

Don't let this be the start of cheese puns 😫3

Only till mid-September apparently so I don’t think that would put us off. Jones loves him so if he’s available and in our budget then we will probably sign himCrispywood said:

Gomez came on for Liverpool today and played well, sounds like they might keep him now3

Wasn't aware he was injured , just assumed he was down the pecking order and someone that might be available. Think he absolutely fits the profile that we'd be looking for though.NabySarr said:

It does. And it was a great cross. But from Edward's. Get TC & Apter delivering a few of those in a match and we'll score.sam3110 said:@golfaddick so the cross and Leaburn shot that hit the crossbar just... Doesn't exist in your world?
I love all these people posting stats like they mean anything. "shots on target". Is that shots the keeper saved or shots that were blocked ?
To me the only stat that matters is goals scored. We are 2nd bottom in that category. Worst is Sheff U who are bottom.
(Waiting for all the posts to tell me that clean sheets matter & we are 16th and not 2nd bottom....yadda yards yadda)
Anyway......wrong thread for all this. This is the transfer rumours thread.1 -
Two things, is Apter really on the shit list now? Couple of comments seem to be doubting him.
and two, stop feeding the fucking shit for brains troll.

Looking at the xG numbers for our 4 games, if we've been creating all those chances, there weren't very good ones. Only the Leicester game was one where we clearly missed good opportunities, rather than half chances and speculative shots.
Watford 1.24
Bristol C 0.89
Leicester 1.51
QPR 0.790 -
We’d had to have been doing something right for the opening 3 games of the season for all the opposition keepers to be winning man of the match27

Biggest part of this is the conversion rate.NabySarr said:golfaddick said:

This is what everyone was crying about last summer, it was the wrong opinion then and it’s the wrong opinion nowJ BLOCK said:Desperately need a creative midfielder
This discussion has been had many times on here, but if we sign a creative midfielder on our budget in the championship, then they are not going to be good enough at the other side of the game (a player that is would be out of our budget). Out of possession is much more important than in possession for us in the championship
We will create goals like we did last season, winning the ball high up the pitch with our press, or with the ball isolating Apter and TC in 1v1 situations and then also set pieces. We’ve created enough chances in the first 4 games, we just haven’t been clinical enough
We will not sign a creative midfielder, as just like last season when everyone was crying out for one in August, we don’t need one
We haven't created chances this season, especially not from Apter or TC. Yesterday we scored from about the only decent cross put in. Apter usually puts in better crosses than TC but usually they are when he cuts back onto his left foot & they are easily defended.
The "missess" against Leicester were fashioned from desperate balls into the box when we were crashing the game. Similar yesterday but from once we had got it back to 1-1. 4 games in and no forward player has had an effort at goal that you can call a chance.....certainly not one created by a through ball or a bit of skill.
These facts would disagree with your opinion, we are also joint second in the league for accurate crosses per 90. Apter created plenty against Watford. I wasn’t even really saying they have created loads, just that our style of play when we have possession is not about playing through the thirds in midfield where a creative midfielder would help, it’s about getting the ball to Apter and TC in 1v1 situations, like it was last season with Small and TC.
Creating clear cut openings has maybe been an issue, but we’ve had a few, maybe only one yesterday where Leaburn hit the bar. And that’s also the kind of thing that is likely to develop more over the season, as it did last. We’ve definitely created more than we did in August last season, and we are a league higherThe average of those top 8 is 11.99%.Ours is 3.8%
Although just 4 games, this will balance out over the season and will turn in to wins and points.1 -
I see we are no longer selling Leaburn.killerandflash said:

Yeah that’s kind of the point I was making though. We are creating chances, Apter and TC are both creating chances. At the moment we aren’t taking themHamSollins said:

We don’t need a creative midfielder to create more for us. We need our best goalscorers Kelman, Godden and Knibbs to get fit and Leaburn to start finishing chances0 -

Would be interesting to know what it actually is but a 10-20% sell on fee gets us 1.3-2.6M. 10-20% sell on profit gets us 950k-1.9M. Ideally with his career and previous moves should have gotten more but free income is free income and rather see the money go to these owners than a Duchatelet or Sandgaard back pocketNabySarr said:
Italian press are reporting €15m so not going to be a huge fee for us, as I’d assume our clause is 20% of the profit Liverpool make, rather than 20% of the feeScoham said:

Cawley this morning on his Substack weekly roundup:
The indications are that the Addicks will definitely make one more signing before today’s 7pm deadline.

My prediction is that people will be largely unimpressed with whoever comes in, might even call it a panic buy etc. because whoever comes in is surely going to be a Wing-Back, and they're not being brought in to start matches ahead of Apter.Scoham said:Cawley this morning on his Substack weekly roundup:

But it also gives us the option of using Apter further forward, in the TC role or as a number 10.ForeverAddickted said:

We kinda already have that option now, by putting Ramsay at Wing-Back and playing Burke at Centre-Backcfgs said:

So wont be surprised either, if its a Centre-Back not expecting to start every week that comes in5 -
There will always be a group of people unimpressed even if we paid 50 mil for the best right back in the world … it all depends if we think we can get the Japanese lad in January to what we do today ? It’s going to be RWB / RB we know that could be the Walsall lad who has great promise and looks a decent player and has good pace and creates chances or we spend 1/2 mill on the best in league one .. don’t want a prem loan and championship players will cost to much .ForeverAddickted said:

I’ll be surprised if it’s a ‘back up’ player as didn’t NJ say this was a position we’d been trying to sort since last January.2
