I did, all I can see is Linfieldos signed up and told them we’re vile.

We won’t be signing Michael Smith - he’s signed for Preston on a 2 year deal.

Apparently he has chosen Birmingham as it’s geographically close to his home town……

What doesn't ring true is loan with option to buy. When his loan is up, so is his contract, so we get him free.

As others have said, in ten days we can sign him to start 1st Feb for nothing. Then a loan and loan fee from 9 August may be appropriate, but not £800k.

Are these clues that we’re signing Michael Gash and Jack Grimmer?
Gash and Grimmer sound like gynaecologists from the 1800s.

Wouldn't be convinced yet that he's not going to MLS.

Yeah Fukuda is such a random one and he sounds a brilliant fit for NJ’s team that it definitely has legs. Do we wanna gamble on spending millions on some one from the other side of the world and a very different culture? Might be too much of a gamble.
Its a weird one this deal. He is a free agent come January 2026 which I suspect is why we initially opted for a loan to buy deal. Hard to sanction buying someone for circa 800k when we can get him for free come Jan. That said we need a natural right back!!
Maybe Kyoto have a club option to extend his contract by 1 year? So whilst technically he is currently out of contract in January, it's possible it will effectively be 18 months.

I'm not as keen on Kelman as others - I could see him taking a couple of seasons to find his feet at the next level. Would rather focus on Knibbs.

I agree with you. Had one brilliant season. Extreme example... but QPR spent 2m on Bonne after one okay season (11 champ goals)

Yeah I just can't help get but Ajose vibes with Kelman , really not keen on this when Knibbs would be a better fit.

I find it concerning that the indications from Reading fans is that Knibbs is decent but that they’d bite our hands off for £2.5m.

Think any League 1 club would take £2.5m for a player with a year left. Their new owners are rich but not rich enough to turn that kind of money down.

Wouldn’t worry too much about Knibbs or Kelman.

I think after their recent money issues and seeing players leave on the cheap they’re just happy to get a reasonable price for a player who’s on a free next summer

Because we have someone better lined up? Because we have someone worse lined up?

What makes you more confident about Knibbs?

Knibbs has had 2 excellent seasons back to back in fairness

I think we've moved on from Kelman to other targets
