It was much more like a 3421 than a 343, it wouldn’t be wingers we need but a 10 who can drift wide. Can see why NJ could think Apter could do that
Carey did exactly that at Blackpool last season too, and I can't see how it differs that much from what TC was already doing last season really, we listed him as a striker in a 352 but his heatmap has him firmly planted out to the left for a lot of his football

Yes the other 10 needs to drift right which is why Apter would make sense, wasn’t needed as much first half today because of Rylah playing like Small but a lack of width on the right was noticeable in the second half

Remember we started slow last year and I think that was previously a characteristic of Jones' teams at Luton as well from memory. Will be an adjustment period for the squad and for us having got used to winning most weeks!
First 6 games - 2.17ppg, the same as the last 29 so we started with promotion (99pts) form.

I expect that we have a few more irons in the fire already and then anything further will be reassessed depending on whether we manage to move on the players we want to lose and/or end up losing one or two we'd prefer to keep hold of.

I'm fairly pleased that we don't seem to currently be NEEDING to sell anyone to fund the incoming, suggests that if/when we do end up seeing some departures it won't be shaking things up too badly.

Bet Sonny and Joe are upset now at not being regarded as "Wonderful" or "Fantastic" now!!
Not part of the Luton Clique, that's why ;)

Top end quality I hope means a couple of quality attacking options that can just add the finishing touch (pun intended)

Would still like a right wing back, as it may only be JRC who can play there and he sounds like he’s better in midfield anyway. Another forward too please.

I’ll be surprised if we don’t bring in another right wing back.

By the way, have to give credit to Docherty as well today. Can tell he has been training hard all pre season. Looks a lot sharper and a lot better on the ball. I know it’s only Dartford but can tell he looks a lot better.

Didn't Jonathan Spector look like a world beater in preseason? That's the question - which player has had the biggest dissonance between their preseason showing and their actual output in the season?

NJ saying hoping to have two more new signings if not in the next few days by next weekend
Listening to Rich’s pod I think people have misunderstood Jones saying “I’d like to” as “I’d like two” when asked if wants more signings soon

He can play there but I really don’t think he will be first choice there, he’s too good at right centre back. Not sure if it will be a more attacking winger type like Apter but I’m sure we’ll have a new first choice right wing back by the time the season starts.

Got a feeling Spector played centre back in pre season, then ended up playing the majority of his time at left back.

I’ll never forget Danny Green looking top class v Welling.
    Danny Green was great!
  • Would imagine we’re looking at other targets now but Barnsley look like they’re close to signing Samson Tovide.

Assume he wasn’t a target this time round, if he had been then it would’ve only been if we couldn’t get Tanto

    DKD however started for Barnsley.

Knowing our luck, he will bang in a hatrick vs them and Rangers will sign him.
Fortunately not. They kicked off earlier, drew 1-1 and he didn't score
He’s crap then, can’t score against a Scottish prem side, he’ll be no use in the champ.!
Which means Rangers will definitely sign him.

“Listen, I just want to assure the fans I’ve got a yearly pass to The National Railway Museum in York and I have indeed, ‘made a day of it’.  We’ve got nothing to fear.  Yes, locomotives, steam engines and railways are a big part of British culture, and a pull for many a man, but I’ve doubled down on our history and every single potential player that signs for us, they know we’re all about train spotting.

Alright, if you go to Preston it’s practically on your doorstep, but I tell these lads, we’ve got Southeastern, and if you venture as far down to the Medway towns, these people takes their trains seriously.”
