Crying out for Rak-Sayi type loan that can give us a bit of an X Factor now but starting to take shape nicely.
That'll be the type of deal that will be late in the window , once PL sides finalise squads etc. Probably not helped by the U19/U21 Euros and the CWC
This wouldnt suprise me at all as Im sure he enjoyed his time here and it means he remains local. Not sure if they want to loan or sell him though

Happy with Burke what we still need some serious creativity and a good RWB
    We (fans) need creativity.

    I’m not sure Jones does
If Golfie had posted this he would have got slaughtered, the boss posts it and gets 20 likes
22, but still plenty of time for others to jump on board :-)

Take it with a pinch of salt but been told JRC wanted to leave Blackburn as was frustrated at being played out of position along the back and wanted to play his preferred position, CM
DM/CM is his best position in FM, if it goes through I’ll ask the Blackburn researcher about that. I’m sure NJ will have a position and plan in mind, rather than bringing him here purely as a utility player.

Alan Nixon bang on again, he never misses!!
He’s usually got quite a strong Blackburn connection and gets a lot right with them. Dolan from them next will be nice

I mentioned Dolan a couple of days back, he'd be perfect for us as the TC competition and can play wide and central. Seems to have lot of interest from abroad though

If this guy replaces Small on the right we MUST get a creative player who can carry the ball from the middle. Last season when we didn't have a pacey dribbler on both sides we were screwed,.as the opposition would double up on our one wing threat.

Agreed, that’s my only concern about the signing but that’s not about JRC in particular. A good signing really

I was thinking Docherty, with either covering for Coventry.

Think you’ll find that man is Carey, his ball carrying is very strong

I’d take Costello - a decent age with Champ experience and a bit like Burke, well thought of from a talent perspective.  If we got him, I think that makes for strong options across the back 5, plus the GK.  Hopefully enough time to focus on the midfield

I can definitely see A Mitchell on his way out now - I always thought he was okay, but it’s clear he’s probably going to be one of those players who we move on because we can’t be sentimental

I would imagine Ramsey, Jones and Gillesphey have earned their shot at being the first choice back 3 for now, but it will be interesting to see how it pans out in preseason

Costello is an interesting one. It wasnt that long ago that he was runner up in their player of the year vote.

Don't know where it went wrong for him.

I heard the manager and him didn't see eye to eye after he turned up for training and said 'I would rather be anywhere else but here today'.

I couldn’t agree more, our recruitment has been great so far but it really does feel like we’re missing someone like Connor Gallagher, Cullen, Rak-Sakyi - too good for the level and raises the performance of people around them.

Get the impression that this team is going to be a really hard grafting lot. Whether that’s going to be enough I’m not sure but I don’t think we’ll be able to complain about the effort.

Rankin Costello would be a good addition to a decent summer transfer window. Still think we need a top box to box CM as well.

Blackburn supporting friend mentioned we were in for Costello, but I imagine his source was that piece reported last night as I got the message around 8pm.

Said he was quality before injury, but now pretty slow. I assumed he was coming in as RWB but doesn’t fill with my confidence if he’s “walking down the wing”

Agree re the fans, but your not sure Jones needs creativity, i'm sure he would tend to disagree with you boss with all due respect, and say that he def does need creativity every day...
Every day is a challenge even for the most successful manager...

Loaning him back to the one club he's truly excelled at has to something that Palace are thinking about. I doubt the loan fee is even that important to them given the far larger jump in his value if he has a breakout season at Championship level.

Thing is not much about the club is the same, different manager, different playing style, different owners, different coaching staff, different stature in a different division and majority of the squad are different too. Him coming back here isn’t a guaranteed success at all

Was going to say exactly the same. Very solid signings so far but we really need some flair to replace Small and give TC more freedom down the other side. Perhaps naive to play like that in the Championship but it’s how we performed at our best last season.
Great to have total faith in the manager and head of recruitment though.
Maybe we’ll play a different system this season.
