Absolutely not, certainly not at the start of the season. He was one of our best players last season, to the point that teams doubled up on him. We have to start him based on what we know from a successful L1 campaign.AndyG said:
Time will tell but I would be surprised if TC starts many games this season I expect him to be used as an impact substitutejamesking93 said:
I really don't think this is the answer. Even in League One Campbell was playing higher and often more centrally than Small. I think TC going to RWB would lessen both his effectiveness and weaken us overall as a team.jose said:Is it possible that TC could be moved across to play in front of Ramsey?
Or would that reduce some of TC's effectiveness?9 -
NJ will also likely use pre-season to help inform him in terms of additional bodies/cover required. I.e if someone like Assiimwe performs well in pre-season NJ might consider him decent enough cover for the RWB slot.8

Very important we get that RWB signing right. If we go too defensive we will lose almost all of our attacking threat.I do think we can replace Small, but it has to be a player of a similar profile that likes to get forward.6

Agreed and important to keep Ramsey at CB. He was immense there towards the end of the season.Laddick01 said:Very important we get that RWB signing right. CB is going to be an interesting one. Burke and Hills both would be interesting signings , would leave both Mitchell's in an interesting position. Would probably keep Zach and move on from Alex?1

A few days back someone suggested we have a kitty of £17,500,000…..can’t confirm if this was/is a fact or who posted it.J BLOCK said:

I don't expect we will either, but comments like this are just not true, like I said, you have ZERO idea of our budget.
Maybe someone can elucidate on this further.0 -
Not sure about that figure but it’s going to be a lot better than the £17.50 in the bad old days under Southall and Co.0

See what you’re driving at Ben….it’s just that the word ‘exploiting’ is normally used in a somewhat derogatory or critical fashion……wouldn’t you say?AberystwythAddick said:
Doing with the knowledge that fans will continue to look throughout the day for a new update does exploit them, again not saying it’s a bad thing just how it isElliotCAFC said:
I’m not saying they don’t do it for the engagement, but it’s not to exploit the fans.AberystwythAddick said:
Everything is about clicks and engagement now. Don’t matter what a business is, it’s about getting people to view your page and posts. We may not rely on it but it’s how the world operates. What other reason would there be for 5 separate posts breaking down the Bell interview. It’s all for the engagementElliotCAFC said:
Charlton Athletic isn’t an e-commerce brand that relies on clicks and engagement for revenue.AberystwythAddick said:
Tanto was at 9, I think the reason they do it that early is that people go and check the Twitter page or the website, it generates traffic the rest of the day with people looking for that mystical other signing. Just a way to exploit fanseastterrace6168 said:Was great news this morning regarding Amari'i, but we are now into pm, and looking forward to the next one, must be a reason why it was on the OS so early, so come on Charlton clocks ticking...0 -

He said his source was a director at another Championship club who knew because budget figures are shared between clubs by the league.
This is true although I thought that the figures were anonymous and not shared until later September/October so that figure might be based on last year's numbers.4 -

With Mbick signing a new long-term contract and coming on in the final, as well as Leaburn returning to fitness, it will be interesting to see if Jones now sticks with what he's got up front and puts the rest of the budget into other areas.0

Just to re-clarify I was told and shared that the wage budget is c17 - this does not include fees which would be on top. For comparison, one of the three promoted sides last season started their campaign with an increase to £15m in wages - that is allegedly increasing further to £19m having survived their first season and to try to make them more competitive.Henry Irving said:

This is true although I thought that the figures were anonymous and not shared until later September/October so that figure might be based on last year's numbers. We have had a big shot in the arm but our Champ rivals’ budgets in general are bigger, some a lot bigger.Thankfully we have a great manager, coaching team and medical staff to help bring the most out of what we can afford. All factors considered, BRING IT ON!32 -
Cawley felt we’d be after another striker/winger, and I think that’s right as it’s too much of a risk to rely on Leaburn staying fit and stepping up, and Mbick being ready this season.ElliotCAFC said:With Mbick signing a new long-term contract and coming on in the final, as well as Leaburn returning to fitness, it will be interesting to see if Jones now sticks with what he's got up front and puts the rest of the budget into other areas.0 -
Reckon he goes Oloafe, TC, Godden, Leaburn and one more forward signing up top. Loan out Kanu and Mbick and try and sell Ahadme but more likely a loan cause no one will spend money on himElliotCAFC said:With Mbick signing a new long-term contract and coming on in the final, as well as Leaburn returning to fitness, it will be interesting to see if Jones now sticks with what he's got up front and puts the rest of the budget into other areas.7 -
SantaClaus said:Its probably a pipe dream but I can see JRS coming to Charlton being in the interests of all 3 parties if the loan or permanent signing is structured the right way.
I'd imagine that would be a budget buster and he's on too much dough.

Cawley says not - at least one more forward option apparently on the shopping list but how accurate that is or any names we don't know yet.ElliotCAFC said:With Mbick signing a new long-term contract and coming on in the final, as well as Leaburn returning to fitness, it will be interesting to see if Jones now sticks with what he's got up front and puts the rest of the budget into other areas.1 -
I'd still want another if we can shift Ahadme out and DK goes to the Wombles on loan. Mbick and Dixon should be complete wildcardsElliotCAFC said:With Mbick signing a new long-term contract and coming on in the final, as well as Leaburn returning to fitness, it will be interesting to see if Jones now sticks with what he's got up front and puts the rest of the budget into other areas.7 -

we need a younger, champ/prem experienced striker in my opinion.
Godden + a young TC who is inexperienced, Olaofe who has never played at the level before and Leaburn who is so injury prone.14 -
That would leave us short I reckon. Only one played in championship. Need a more experienced big man and another TC style. Dont know who though.Crispywood said:

If we play a right-winger, we would have three "full-time" attackers up front. I do not think we can afford that luxury unless the winger is so good that he can play in a two up front. Maybe Rak-Sakyi could, but can we afford a player of that known quality?golfaddick said:

Wouldn’t say 5 players competing for 2 positions is leaving us short and you aren’t going to do a complete squad flip in one windowkentred2 said:

It is worse than that. We will have to pay to get rid of him. Either by paying most of his wages if loaned or by agreeing to buy out his contract.Crispywood said:... and try and sell Ahadme but more likely a loan cause no one will spend money on him
Ahadmes are like whores. You pay to get rid of them.0 -
I bloody hope not. Role reversal, our tail collapsing in a heap this time0

Might've meant to post this in the England Cricket thread

TC is allergic to defense. Converting him to a wingback was tried with a bad outcome. Play to his strengths - he is a wide forward with pace. Let’s not mess around with thatjose said:Is it possible that TC could be moved across to play in front of Ramsey?
Or would that reduce some of TC's effectiveness?8 -
There aren’t many times I agree with Golfie but this is definitely one of them, I’m glad Mbick has signed a new deal but outside of cup games he shouldn’t be appearing just yet (unless of course he bangs in about 20 goals in preseason which is fair enough)golfaddick said:
