Any rumours of clubs after our players that we'd want to keep? Not sure many players fit the bill - i.e. above where CAFC currently is. Possibly Ramsay a good punt for a Prem team. Possibly others, though none off the top of my head. Not wanting to be negative, and not expecting we'll lose any, just wondered if there were any rumours knocking about - or any players we'll be doing well to keep.

Could it be that we have lost out on a few deals because selling clubs  are imposing high sell on fee clauses?

Surprisingly, no. The only outgoing rumour so far is Kanu to Wimbledon which would be a good deal for all parties

Absolutely huge for us in a division where’s the very few bad teams need all the help we can get if we want to survive. If Wednesday and hull mud themselves financially would leave us Portsmouth, Stoke, Preston, Watford, Oxford for that 3rd relegation spot and then suddenly I really fancy our chances to stay up

Ramsey no where need Prem standard .. as yet there still question marks about the championship with quicker players and better movement …. big year for him

Easily the closest to Prem standard out of the current squad. He’ll be fine in the Championship, even if it turns out he’s not quite as good as we hope he’ll be.

Our squad are all pretty much unproven above L1 level (barring Godden who is 34 this month).

Maybe given their ages someone might consider taking a look at Ramsay or Campbell I guess, but I think it's unlikely.

If we'd have stayed down Championship clubs might have looked to get them as a cheap punt.

No expectations just saying that Barry is the sort of player we need 

There’s no denying that he would improve us but not only does he play in tc’s position, the need for investment is far greater needed on the right and at CAM, which I know Barry can play in but enjoyed the majority of his success down the left.

I suspect you’re right, but the last two signings have shown that we are willing to spend decent money. If Jones convinces the powers that be that a player is worth the money and can yield a much bigger profit then I could see us paying a decent fee.

Barry would be a very interesting target , just not sure where he really fits in as he's not really a natural 9

I suspect you’re right, but the last two signings have shown that we are willing to spend decent money. If Jones convinces the powers that be that a player is worth the money and can yield a much bigger profit then I could see us paying a decent fee. 

And I’m not doubting that whatsoever proven by the signings of olaofe and kaminski but we simply aren’t going to spend 3.5 million, that’s not including a high wage demand which would most  likely make him our highest earner at the club.

How I am looking at it, they barely stayed up as well last season. 

I don't like to take joy in other clubs misery, but them and Wednesday in financial bother certainly makes the league look less intimidating.

It’s more or less the going rate for decent championship players now though. You don’t know we wouldn’t pay that much. If management believed we need it then there’s always a possibility

They spent £3.5M on Puerta on Tuesday and went under an embargo two days later for paying a bill late!  Some going.

Easily the closest to Prem standard out of the current squad. He’ll be fine in the Championship, even if it turns out he’s not quite as good as we hope he’ll be.

Did I ever say I did ? I’m being realistic, if you prefer to live in world where you believe we will drop 3.5 million+ on player to make you feel better then that’s completely up to you but I am telling you how I see it.

Not necessarily Barry but I think there’s a chance we could spend 3m on a player this summer if the right one becomes available . Wishful thinking maybe but I just have a feeling we might go for it before end of the window.

I don't see Barry coming in at that sort of price with TC and Olaofe here - wasn't he keeping Olaofe out of Stockport's team, until he was recalled in January? I assume the first half of the season was when Olaofe made most of his 16 sub appearances in the league.

We look to be spending more than I expected, but I can't see us paying out £3m+ on a single player this summer without selling one or two of our own for big fees, or getting in a big amount via a sell on clause for Gomez. A player worth that is likely to expect a big wage too, so it's not just about the fee being affordable.

I can see us spending a few more million this summer, but across multiple signings.
