I think we offered Barcelona Osei Sankofa in a straight swap and then the line of communication dried up. To this day I still can’t think why they didn’t return the phone calls. Was a rumour it was a done deal and then Roman's Chelski blew us out the water. Given what he went on to do , probably a lucky escape we didn't pay £5m for him3 -

The sad thing is I think Kezman ended up being overwhelmed by the expectations at Chelsea and was behind Gudjohnsen and Drogba from the moment he joined. I think he would have been much better off signing for a smaller team where he played and had time to settle. He'd scored 105 goals in 122 league games for PSV but he never quite got his rhythm back after his confidence died at Chelsea.
