You might want to know, other fans here might want to know, but it would be madness for our owners to publicly state what our summer transfer budget is.Lincsaddick said:
The point is that you, I, no-one on here has an idea what is our transfer budget.000__Jaaaaay__000 said:
Blowing what probably is most of our budget on a player with 1 year left on his contract and has played at league 1 level only is absolutely madness no matter how good he might be at that level.Lincsaddick said:
said it before (and I'll opine it once more) bid £3 Million as a final offer, then try to discuss personal terms. If we bid cheapskate, we'll get cheapskate players .. of course it would be good to know if the owners are intending to invest in players for the future, or to use the L1 cash reward to repay themselves for their past outlaysWest2003 said:
The apology to Richard Nixon should be as loud as the disrespect to him on here. The big man’s on the money yet again!L0rd_M0ntagu3 said:
You GUESS probably £3 Million(ish), like I say, no-one here knows.
As I said above it would be good to know what is the amount the owners are prepared to invest.
I would hope there are funds available to sign a player (or players) who Nathan really wants, no-one wants or expects us to pay silly money or to risk bankruptcy.
But, I doubt if we will ever know
I can't think of any example where a club has announced what they are prepared to invest at the beginning of a transfer window.2 -

Any bid you make will be prefaced by the parent club knowing you have more or less than you've bid and moving the goal posts.

There's also the other factor, that if he signed for Charlton he could avoid all the upheaval of moving house and stay local.fenlandaddick said:
Exactly what I was musing over this mornings coffee in the garden when it was nice and cool at 06:30. Does he go for the money and league 1 or push himself to the Championship? He can see we are on the up, and likely to get starts, but should he wait for another option. Can't be an easy decision. But I'd go to Charlton cause were are the nuts.Scoham said:Huddersfield can outbid everyone and Orient can accept Huddersfield’s offer, but if he doesn’t want another season in L1 he can turn it down.
Going to be interesting to see if this moves quickly or drags on through the summer. A big decision for the player himself, does he want to get in early and have a full preseason, or does he risk staying at Orient trying to get the very best move? That doesn’t always work out, and comes with risks of injuries and not having a full preseason to settle in at a new club.
Even though he's N Irish, he may want to stay in London.
GF/partner may have a big say

Hard to believe that it’s just Charlton and Hudds in the hunt. Sheff Utd have been mentioned but are not likely to be spending until their manger situation is resolved. I think this one will get away I’m afraid.3

Selles. Bizarre to get rid of Wilder.1 -
He's a good player but is he good enough to get into a side who just got 90 points? I'm not so sure and I think he'd just be a bench warmer there.ShootersHillGuru said:Hard to believe that it’s just Charlton and Hudds in the hunt. I would suggest using Google but don't wanna get involved in an internet war like the one that occured earlier in the thread 🤣ShootersHillGuru said:

#htafc are on the verge of signing Northern Irish international Ethan Galbraith from #lofc package unknown right now but the player has turned down #cafc. Understand Huddersfield offered a much bigger wage packet.
Just read this on the Leyton Orient forum. Seems they can offer a bigger package than us.0 -
So the guy loses his job and we also lose our No1 source of CAFC news. He sets up his own way of providing that service for a very minimal monthly subscription but you object to that ? Next you will be moaning that we don’t get any news anymoregolfaddick said:

Hopefully Golfie reads the part about systems and not strikers getting the job done in the championship the last couple of seasons 😉.Callumcafc said:Good article from Rich Cawley’s Substack this morning. No new names mentioned but a good overview of where we are likely looking to strengthen and a recap of some of the credible rumours put out there so far.2 -

Cawley said wages are not an issue - so I’m very much inclined to believe that.TheFXguy said:Graham Eastwood Eastwood Exclusive#htafc are on the verge of signing Northern Irish international Ethan Galbraith from #lofc package unknown right now but the player has turned down #cafc. Beds….we are no longer shopping in Lidl’s, ok……we aren’t shopping in Waitrose either but who knows what our budget is…..no one has a clue.Bedsaddick said:That’s that then . We won’t be matching that sort of money .
You seem convinced (like quite a few others), that we are still scratching around for bits and pieces but things ‘ might have’ changed somewhat.
I am not saying you are wrong but let’s wait and see how things shape up……we may be in for a pleasant surprise, especially if Joe Gomez moves on for a decent fee.🤞🤞🤞4 -
Valley11 said:It would be good to get the Orient midfielder but I’m pretty calm about our transfer business now we’ve got a manager like Jones, who has hand-picked his recruitment lead, who happens to be a well respected negotiator and an ex Charlton player.
It feels like we’ll be ok and I haven’t felt that about CAFC transfers for a very long time.
All true, although I would guess Chapple has been recruited to unearth hidden talent rather than for his negotiating prowess.1 -
Crazy if true, as i can't see why Galbraith wouldn't at least wait and see if other championship offers came in.TheFXguy said:Graham Eastwood Eastwood Exclusive #htafc are on the verge of signing Northern Irish international Ethan Galbraith from #lofc package unknown right now but the player has turned down #cafc. Wouldn't be surprised to see a few signings from Europe if Chapple thinks there is better value available there than domestically.2 -

Looking on the Orient forum most of their fans are pissed off that Galbraith might go to a league one rival and the opinion is unanimous that he could do a lot better than Huddersfield.
Also i don't believe the journo who said he's turned us down. We didn't have a bid accepted, so surely it's Orient who turned us down, not Galbraith.12 -

Just read this on the Leyton Orient forum. Seems they can offer a bigger package than us.I don't think we ever got to speaking with Galbraith let alone negotiating terms, so how the f*ck would anyone know what wages we offered or indeed Huddersfield? My understanding is that we made an offer to Orient in terms of a fee and it was rejected.Me thinks Graham Eastwood is talking the second language of all things football - bollocks.11 -
I imagine Wilder was sacked because he wasnt going to put up with this new AI recruitment shitShootersHillGuru said:

The wages thing comes from a fake journalist with barely any followers, can ignore safely0

258 followers, generic businessman profile pic, and “Sanjay Patel” with 10 followers said Eastwood’s ‘exclusives’ are about as exclusive as a relationship with Bonnie Blue.TheFXguy said:Graham Eastwood Eastwood Exclusive#htafc are on the verge of signing Northern Irish international Ethan Galbraith from #lofc package unknown right now but the player has turned down #cafc.
