If we’re looking at bringing in fabianski for 1 year would rather take less of a gamble that he’s still got it and go for a loan keeper who would still be at the club for the same amount of time, guaranteed good enough for the level and on less money like a Walton at Ipswich. JRS coming back would make absolutely zero sense transfer fee wise, wage wise or a playing style wise. JRS would be the last player to suit a NJ system brilliant on the ball but cant play any other role than a RW which we don’t use, can’t press, can’t track back, doesn’t get stuck in. Don’t see where’d he fit I’d be sceptical going in for him even if there was a small chance we could get him back some players we just need to learn to move on from.
There is no chance he comes here obviously, but if by some miracle he did then Jones would definitely take him and adapt to having him. He’s too good a player not to and Jones would know that

Someone on here said a few weeks ago that we had already signed 4 players - when are they to be announced ???

While i'm on here, its a definite no to Cornick, Plange and Dijksteel

Purely guess but I imagine 3 of them could well be...

    Carey ✅

Wickens (keeper) - was confirmed as one of them at the time I believe.

Offiah - Cawley confirming we are keen and Brighton saying they expect him to come to us

Macaulay Bonne - or maybe not!

It's a good thing that we've been offered Fabianski. We obviously wanted more experience in the building last season but missed out on every target and ended up with just Mannion and AMB. Unless Millwall or QPR pick him up I could see him still being available towards the end of the window and then we could decide to go for him if we miss out on the other keepers we're trying to sign again. The problem we had last season was that our targets like Adam Davies didn't really want to come, if Fabianski doesn't want to leave London then he's a possible option on the backburner if younger options fall through

I can't see JRS wanting to come back, he'll want to join a front foot Championship team fighting for promotion, not one grinding out results to stay up.
If it was a permanent then i would agree but a loan wouldn't matter - if anything he would be guaranteed more game time here rather than going back to somewhere like Sheffield United where he didn't always start. Either way not gonna happen for us!

Sounds like from Rich that Millwall are well in contention ,Lukas Jensen is injured long term.

If he’s going on loan to the championship, he will want to be putting up goals and assist numbers that put him in the shop window. That isn’t going to happen with us, realistically even if we are successful and stay up we are probably going to be among the lower scorers in the division next season. He will have his pick of half the league and plenty of teams that will play the football and be good enough for him to score and assist plenty.

The only potential caveat to that is if he would have a good link up with TC, which often happens with attackers who are close off the pitch. However, it's unlikely they would both be on the pitch at the same time

JRS’ best season of his career was with us.  That might count for something. Sometimes a player fits a club and it’s inexplicable - it just works.

But in realty he’s out of our league!

Think he enjoyed his time with us as he was the key player.
he wasn’t that a Sheffield Utd.
Perhaps he would welcome being the king pin.
it would certainly take some focus off TC who’s a mate of his

There's the man of the match winner sorted when we play them.

Don't want JRS. No end product.
Exactly he don't fit the system when we are hanging onto a 0-0 draw away to Southampton after the 2nd minute not the kind of player you want starting.

I remember that despite a very good record Rich isn't always spot on. In January 2024 he said although Ladapo was a target that he was unlikely to sign only for Freddie to pitch up at the Valley the following week.

I suspect we might have targets before Fabianski and as others have indicated his wages may be a problem. I might be wrong but I can't see a West Ham 'legend' being welcomed at the Den , but clearly other clubs might be keen.

My only misgiving about George Wickens is that he doesn't have Championship experience and would cost a healthy fee. I would want someone more experienced to compete with Mannion rather than a keeper with a similar profile.

Paudie O'Connor, another wishlist signing has joined Reading on a four year deal.

Its one thing I'll be interested to see how things turn out, a lot of us would like to create a bit of a League One X1 dream team, but with some of these names going elsewhere in League One, you have to think we're aiming a lot higher... Exciting to think of in that regard.

JRS joined a club with a set of fans who aren’t keen on giving a player a chance. They were expecting to steam roller teams most weeks

its similar with the club TC was being chased by.  It couldn’t be further from an understanding set of fans and it would just sap his confidence and be a car crash.

As I say, sometimes a player just fits

Agreed it's the thought that counts.

If we could get JRS, him and TC on either wing would be great to watch.

Do hope we sign someone soon, not because I think we're running out of time or anything but more because it would be fun and keep that buzz going

Probably out of our league as he was capped for Belgium last year and would probably command a significant fee , Thomas Kaminski I can't see staying at Luton, plenty of PL and EFL experience between the sticks but probably more likely he goes to the top of the league or a PL backup.

Someone suggested Jamaica’s Richard King on the TC or Dixon thread recently during their matches. He’s signed for St Mirren. Maybe one to keep an eye on to see how he adapts.

Wasn't sure where to stick this but Richard Chin has joined Raith Rovers on a 2yr deal from Farnborough.

What am I missing with JRS? Decent season with us in League One, disappointing season at the top of the Championship last season… doesn’t strike me as ‘out of our league’, sounds very much in it tbh. Whether we think he’s better than he showed at SUFC is irrelevant.

No idea where Palace are getting £15m from honestly.

Unrealistic on a permanent, even if you halved that £15m asking price.

On loan other clubs will likely offer to pay his full wages and a loan fee, and they’ll probably be clubs aiming for promotion.

Not sure why anyone going for promotion would sign him based on his body of work so far

Just WHO is OFFERING us Fabianski ??  He's out of contract so he is not tied to any club. Just lazy journalism being repeated ad-infinitum on here.
