Giants win a series in NYC against the Yankees for the first time ever. Amazing stat. Jung Hoo Lee is on fire, hope he stays fit this season.
That’s a stat that makes you think that cannot be right
Not really, with one very big caveat - when they say Giants, they specifically mean the San Francisco Giants.

Interleague play only started in 1997, and teams don’t play everyone every year, so there have only been 8 regular season series between the two teams, and only 5 of them have been in NY. So the Giants lost the first 4, and finally won on the 5th attempt.

But the NY Giants beat the Yankees twice in the World Series, and all of those games would have been played in NY. So it all depends on your definition of Giants.

He looked like a fun player last season but got hurt so early. Nice to see him doing well. The NL West is brutal. I don't feel bad for the Rockies, because they're the Rockies and they make their own fate, but the idea that one of Giants, DBacks, Dodgers, or Giants might miss out on the playoffs is bonkers so early in the season.
The Giants might miss out twice? 😉

The Mets with the joint best record, that's what I like to see

A winning % of .609 is only good enough for 4th in the NL West, but would make the Diamondbacks top of 4 of the other 5 divisions

Beat me to it. What a way to celebrate what would have been Willie Mays birthday!

Another amazing end to the game at Oracle Park last night. 3-1 down at the bottom of the ninth, with two on base, Giants catcher Patrick Bailey hit an in-the-park homer to win the game. The first catcher to hit an in-park home run for 99 years apparently.

And it took the Mets back to first in the NL East

I woke up at 5.00 this morning to give my dog a tranquilliser before an early vet visit and had a quick look when the Giants were 1-3 down at the bottom of the 8th and couldn’t’ be bothered to check at full-time!
So it was a nice surprise when I checked in just now to see thy won!

Pissed me off that during the football last night, when the graphic went up listing what sport was coming up on the BBC there was absolutely no mention of the baseball. What chance does the game have of increasing the following in the UK if the channel that shows it doesn't tell anyone it's on? It wasn't even on the front page of the iPlayer, or on the sport page, to find it I had to Google "BBC Baseball" and find the link that way.

At the moment, for next week, it is advertising Yankees (again...) at the Marlins, with Sunday's game being shown at 7PM on Monday, nothing about live coverage on Sunday night.

Reminds me of Sport TV's coverage of EFL here in Portugal.

Still the worst atmosphere I've ever sat through at a professional sporting event.

Soery to hear that, must have been a bad day. It's not The Valley (what is), but here's what the place can sound like:

There has ever been a professional sportsman cooler than Joey Bats at that moment

I went to the Rogers in 2014 - was a mint day out, the Jays won, and seeing the CN Tower looming over the ballpark is pretty cool

The Giants weird season continues. Having hit a homer in 18 straight games (the best streak for the franchise since the year the Addicks won the cup) they have now won 11 out of the last 12, having won only 2 of the previous 13...  Optimists are looking at a late run to post season. Mmmm... However, we have seven games against the evil Dodgers to come, the rest are against teams with slightly inferior records to ours, so who knows?

After a terrible middle of the season, and trading away half our team, the Diamondbacks have had a crazy resurgence and are currently only 1 game back in the wildcard race, despite having the hardest run in of all the MLB. Even if we don't make the postseason, we'll hopefully be in a good place in the off season with a lot of room for trades and free agents, with Perdomo and Carroll hopefully being 2 big stars for years to come.

Giants unsurprisingly out of the play-off race. There's always next year...

Rooting for whoever plays the Dodgers and the Yanks now.

For those that don't know the top secret handshake to be let in on this confidential information (or that's the way it seems with the BBC publicity department), there's a double header on iPlayer tonight from 6PM. Tigers v Guardians followed by Padres v Cubs. Further double header on Sunday, teams & times TBC

Red Sox take Game 1 from the Wankees..... god knows how as we are lacking major offensive power with Roman Anthony going down.

Shame my DBacks couldn't keep the momentum to capitalise on the Mets completely fucking it. Hope we can strengthen in the winter and go again, we're not the best baseball team in the world but it's always a wild time when we're on the bases!

Good to see the Blue Jays 2-0 up against the Yanks, hope they can take it all the way.
