I mean its a bit soon... We don't really know each other yet... aren't drinks at a nice bar an easier alternative?9

What does PrincessFiona think?1

Thats assuming those prize winning players are still here.1

The whole of the club not fucking about with wanting to finish the job. I like it1

If they leave it till after the play offs then surely players will be straight off on their holibobs. Plus how late can they leave it before getting a date in the diary.0

Not a surprise after one or two events were called off earlier this year to local groups asking for staff and players to attend midweek events
Will just be a glorified open day around July time
Expect to see more of this in the future but if the football is onwards and upwards then who will care2 -
The event will take place during pre-season, while the club will work to ensure that the annual player awards, traditionally distributed at the end-of-season dinner, are presented to players ahead of the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

"We are grateful for the support from our fans and look forward to celebrating the 2024/25 season with them. In the meantime, I am asking our fans to continue to get all their energy behind the team throughout an important eight to 10 weeks we have ahead of us. Now remember, till then (and we have a promotion banner or play-off trophy) no high-fiving in Bluewater and most importantly no trips to Costa Coffee." (May of added that last bit)0 -

Seems a bit daft to have an end of season event at the start of the next season, when many of the players have gone and been replaced by ones who weren't here in 24/25...6

As the new CEO thread seems to have created discussion about the Player of the Year Event, there seems to be difference of opinions on this (most I have not seen before or agree with), such as
- Dinner is old fashioned and out dated
- Most fans would prefer an event that reflects a wider sections of the fanbase as well as being more accessible to general fans and local communities
- The POTY Dinner doesn't raise money for anything as far as i'm aware - if it makes any profit at all - so surely a free/low entry fee event at The Valley that enables many more fans to attend can only be a better option
Does seem a shame that after having an end of season event for so long that was run by the supporters it seems now to be a thing of the past2 -
It reads as if the existing competent organisers have been sidelined in favour of an inadequate "task & complete" group, thus partly explaining why no player of the year/season event took place.sammy391 said:I am, yes.
are CAST planning anything for summer: No
are the club planning something for summer: to be confirmed via Advisory Board and the specific ’task & complete’ group - of which there were unfortunately limited applications for
The inference is it is doubtful due to lack of numbers, experience etc.
It reads like letting Curbs go and replacing him with Iain Dowie.2 -
Actually I had something lined up, but before we could finalise everything, Nathan made his 'no hanging around in Bluewaters' speech, and we all decided we would prefer promotion to a POTY social.4

If you are asking all the players to stop drinking, focus solely on getting ready for the next game, no distractions, no standing if youre not training etc, an event that mostly involves a few beers for all the players during the season is not going to happen.2
