  • Is there a rogues gallery thread? I'm not setting one up, but I'd luv to see the top ten named who've darkened our door, with arguments put forward for each.
  • Suppose we should not have criticized Roland either seeing as we got promoted under him. Silly old me.
There’s certainly an argument to say that we pissed him off so much he has now left us without owning our own ground and we nearly went bankrupt with Southall etc - criticise all u like, I’m just saying we must be massively unlikely to never end up with a board we are happy with
  • What CEO doesn’t take the piss when it comes to hospitality. I can’t see a story here.

Justified criticism is reasonable though. An unreasonable response to it doesn't make it wrong, but best beware when poking the bear.

You'll struggle to find any in the Top 5 who don't get at least  a mention there

There were always going to be protests against Duchatelet because the running of the club was so pathetic. The only question was how organised they were and how effective. It’s not like anyone could have taken a strategic decision not to have protests.

  • Former Crystal Palace chief executive Phil Alexander has spoken to #cafc about the chief executive rule formerly held by Charlie Methven. Believe managing director Jim Rodwell is also keen on the role.

I think you would if you knew the amount of expenses for one match.

Looking at his Wiki page, his time at Palace was back in the 90s.

Of more relevance perhaps is that he was CEO at Bristol City for 7 months in 2022.

Is this why we would need to close the JS stand from tine to time ? So we can fund the SMT drinks bill 😉🙂

Might go some way to explaining the losses increasing instead of reducing as Charlie claimed was easy!

He was at Palace for 26 years until 2022.
  • Update.
If the bar bill was four thousand pounds per match, let’s be conservative and say it was three and a half.
Thats eighty thousand five hundred pounds over a 23 game season.
I am working on a conservative guess that season tickets average out at three hundred and fifty pounds per person.
That means two hundred and thirty of us pay for the big nobs booze ups for a season.

Season ticket revenue will be much less than £350 on average. £250 is probably more accurate after you factor  in VAT and 40% being concessions.

To be honest a bigger issue is likely to be the amount paid to various individuals without a corresponding financial return or business benefit, even though the bar bills are a good indication of the culture.

To be conservative if there has been an issue it won’t be every game.

    Fair enough.
However if the bar bill per match is really four thousand pounds, and season tickets two hundred and fifty pounds, that’s still 368 of us subsidising the big nobs booze ups for a season.
Yet they can’t even get all of the bogs working properly.

  • An indicator of a person and their integrity for me........ you're an owner/director/CEO of an organization and supposed to be doing your bit towards reducing operating expenses to a certain target level....... which can cause 'pain' to people and parts parts of that organization....... and you place yourself 'above all that'. Not good, not good at all.

    That was my understanding

Thanks. That Wiki page needs rewriting to make that clearer  :D

Was there though both administrations, Simon Jordan slagged him off a bit in his book, but that probably reflects Jordan more than Alexander...

Forget his track record or suitability; which school did he go to and what colour are his trousers?

    Probably red & blue.🤮

In terms of the (pathetic) London living wage they booze away (even without it being four thousand pounds per match) around 5,000 hours of work that can be sorted for people. Or possibly a year’s full time employment at that level for three people.

You can 9nly ask the school question in the close season, so I thought!

    Edit.
I have not taken into account National Insurance and other employment costs.
So my estimate is they piss away the annual wages of two modestly paid full time employees across a season.
Paid for by us taken for granted season ticket holders.
