So the club has had to change PSA test slots because some bods at Sky want to broadcast this game. This is disgusting.. i’m not blaming the club at all, they’ve done really well to send out comms early regarding this but this decision to change ko time could be devastating to a bloke and their family.. this isn’t right, sorry!3

What about any Huddersfield fan who has booked train travel.3

My main gripe is that the commentators are crap. Wouldn't mind if they had proper ones but the ones we've had recently have been awful.0
-
If we want to get to the promised land of the Premier League then games are played at all sorts of times and days.2

Only because the wages of all players are so high because the global tv audiences watching have pumped so much money in - and we are the ones inconvenienced by it - less games on tv, less tv audiences, lower wages, more convenient kick off times for the fanslancashire lad said:Like the majority of clubs with bigger grounds Charlton run at a financial loss , TV money helps reduce these losses. Of course if more fans attended the Valley ..........?1

Hard to believe but public transport still operated on Christmas Day until the late seventies.DOUCHER said:

In line with the uplift in matches, weekends where all divisions and the Premier League are scheduled to play, 10 regular weekend games across the three divisions will be broadcast, including seven games at 12.30 pm on a Saturday. This will include up to five Sky Bet Championship matches and up to five matches across Sky Bet League One and Sky Bet League Two.Elthamaddick said:

Some people are ok with 12.30 KO, although I doubt there will be many, call me old fashioned if you like but it just ain't right, Sky or not, 3pm on a Saturday, 7.30/8.00pm midweek should be the KO times imo of course...🙄

Can you tell us a few games in the 70’s that KOd at 11am?
The Sunday home matches on 3/3/74 and 10/3/74 both kicked off at 11.15am, as did the the Easter Monday game (April 15th) with Grimsby Town.
In 1972 the infamous Good Friday game with Orient (Shipperley OG) kicked off at 11.15. Charlton played at home again the following day against Norwich (3pm).

I remember these games. I could be wrong, but I think the top one was for the 3 day week and I remember they gave you a team sheet at the turnstiles because the entrance fee was for the team sheet as you couldn’t pay for games played on a Sunday.soapy_jones said:

It was a small card with membership of either the 'Robins Club' or 'Valiants Club' you were given by the turnstile operator after payment on entry to the ground, if i remember correctly.Bilko said:

Those Sunday games I seem to remember that because you couldn't be charged an entrance fee due to Sunday trading laws at the time, you bought a team sheet for one shilling (i think)...or was it £1.00, and that was your entrance fee, and no i'm not dreaming... 🙄1

You are correct, first Sunday game I went to was against Shrewsbury and you had to buy a programme to get in, Charlton 3-1 down but got a 3-3 draw with late goals from King Arthur and Killer if I remember correctly or maybe not!!eastterrace6168 said:Those Sunday games I seem to remember that because you couldn't be charged an entrance fee due to Sunday trading laws at the time, you bought a team sheet for one shilling (i think)...or was it £1.00, and that was your entrance fee, and no i'm not dreaming... 🙄0

On 17/2/74 we kicked off at 2.30pm against Walsall. The club was experimenting with kick-off times on the Sunday, rather than having to kick off before midday.Covered End said:

The 11.15 I was referring to and thought you were referring to was Orient in 1972.
As you say clearly the 1972 & 1974 Bank Holiday 11.15 KO games were by choice.0

Think SKY would much prefer to show the game at 3pm. It's our rules that say they can't to protect us against other streams when we are playing 3pm. Turkeys and XMAS and all that sort of stuff.DOUCHER said:I know I’ve banged on but why us fans who actually attend games have to put up with this shit I don’t know - we just take it laying down in this country - sky and every other tv company should be made to fit in around us,not the other way round - we gave the game to the world and now the world is telling us when we are allowed to watch it0

I don’t think that now with VPNs and such like the 3pm blackout should be considered sacrosanct.Let it go.0
