There's something not right with Exeter's cards 9 yellows and 3 reds (don't know about our 3 yellows).0
-
I thought Anderson's yellow card was rescinded when the ref realised he was wrong

thanks CE stats amended
Rananega - yes but according to the BBC, who usually get their stats from the Press Association, Anderson received a yellow in the 69th minute - so it stays1 -
Mannion assist?! Their defender's headed it to TC surely0

sorry Leuth but I am a little lax when it comes to "assists", as you should know, my reasoning is Mannion kicked it up field it went off a defender's head to TC and a goalLeuth said:Mannion assist?! Their defender's headed it to TC surely5 -
Unfortunately that would mean there’s no assist for that goal. Assist is the final pass (or touch of the ball) before the goalscorer receives the ball. In the case that the final touch before the goalscorer receives the ball comes from an opposition player there’s no assist.lancashire lad said:

I know you're a bit nicer than official records when it comes to assists but this wasn't a deflection, this was a full on defensive header imo...1

of course I know that, but this is MY way of doing it as I have done for a number of years and will continue until someone takes this over - any offers?se9addick said:

same to you as above, why don't you take it over, you are always quick to comment on my efforts?Leuth said:I know you're a bit nicer than official records when it comes to assists but this wasn't a deflection, this was a full on defensive header imo...7 -

I do feel a bit sorry for our goalkeepers. They always get crappy scores when they have very little to do.
A bit like Amazon evaluations that give a product one star because the independent delivery service was crap!1 -
Ramsay was great as always but feel that’s harsh on Karoy. Deserved MOTM imo.3

If Karoy had scored that golden chance he would have got it.JoshAddick said:Ramsay was great as always but feel that’s harsh on Karoy. Deserved MOTM imo.4 -

What is very interesting is the number of assists TC has here (7) compared to his “official” assists number (1).
Demonstrates just how dangerous of a player he is - even if it’s not showing on the stats sheet week in week out.5 -
well said, that's why I am lax with assists as I think in many situations it gives a better reflection of the players.Callumcafc said:What is very interesting is the number of assists TC has here (7) compared to his “official” assists number (1).

I like both the "official" assist stats, and the "LL" assist stats

Think you have a typo, Conor Coventry showing as 2 minutes played?0

Carry on LL, I know when I have mentioned something wrong with your figures, you have always thanked me and altered your figures.
No one can be perfect, but you come very close and as someone who rarely see the game, I find your stats most interesting. Thank you

Yes. Churlish of me to quibble when I appreciate this work so much. Let's let Will Mannion have his moment #keepersunion3

I'm quite happy with Lancs' methodology and am grateful to the effort he puts in. I always think the 'assist' is a bit of a funny stat anyway though. As I understand it, it came about simply as a way of recognising unselfish forwards who would make a pass rather than out-and-out greedy strikers who wouldn't, whereas it seems we often want to use it to describe something else, something rather more creative - perhaps what used to be called 'who made the goal' before 'the assist' became en vogue. In this sense, the twin assumptions that only one person assists and that that person is always the last person to play the ball are highly misleading. Very often the key action in making a goal happens before the final pass, but football's just too wonderful and messy to have any meaningful stat that takes account of all the possible permutations.7
