Birmingham’s pre match DJ, pyrotechnics etc

Been meaning to ask what people made of it.
Personally thought the DJ stuff was really good, created a great build up and dropped some great tunes. No idea if it was as loud throughout the stadium as it was in the away end, but not sure our East and West Stands would be so up for it every game. Definitely thought it created a bit of pre game buzz, but wonder if it actually appeals more to away fans than home ones.
The fire and pyro stuff I think is a bit gimmicky, but I’m not as against it as I thought I would be. If I went to a T20 game or athletics meet I wouldn’t think anything negatively about it, so I suppose it’s the fact it’s not historically been part of football that gets people instantly against.

Not for me tbh. I feel like it's one of those things that feels fine when the club is flying but when you're playing crap and on a bad run it just feels cringe and unnecessary, like playing clean sheet win after every game.4

Great sound system and DJing, they have adopted 'Mr Blue Sky' by ELO as their 'anthem'. The stadium generally has had a good makeover since last I was there.
I could do without the pyrotechnics, whar abaht global warming (lol) !
Also I could do without the Addicks 'fan(s)' who lobbed a pink flare into the middle of our fans near the front, and threw flares onto the exit stairs at full time, did my COPD no good at all

Fine with the music, and actually quite an interesting “set”.The flames and fireworks were shocking - almost Palace like.2

Birmingham groundsman was not ready for those fireworks at the weekend

works in a packed ground, probably not so much in front on 13,000 empty seats at the Valley
that said, not totally against it.2 -
Utter woke nonsense.16

Thought all the fireworks and pyro were a bit embarrassing for a league one game.
playlist was blinding tho0 -
Never understood the flames being used in football in general which I understand are used in the Premier League all of the time (why?), agree with others it's probably all the sort of thing you would do with a sell out crowd, club performing well etc but not so when in front of a half-empty ground.
The music seemed decent enough though a mate of mine who supports Brum said its something the new owners have brought in.0 -
What music did they play (apart from Freed from Desire
)?

If you want a pre match buzz, just pop in the NU bogs for a line.4

Not sure as a regular thing personally and does have a hint of Palace about it!
Taking the idea a step further, why not lose the pyrotechnics and use pre-game slot to provide a platform to up and coming local artists?1 -
We’d need to seriously upgrade our sound system which is like a 1980’s Walkman9

Great playlist but completely drowned out any pre match noise in the away end maybe that’s the intention, soundsystem was bloody good
The fireworks were cringey tbh0 -
I enjoyed the music but wouldn't want it every game, good as an away fan but does stop the build up of any atmosphere.
Fireworks etc not fussed either way.0 -
Fireworks/flames would be good for an important midweek playoff/cup game. A random third division match on a Saturday in February, not so much.1

A well curated playlist is all you need…
The Skids, The Clash, This Is The Valley…4 -
When Stansfield scored did they play any of his mum Lisa's music?4
-
Not keen on the pyro personally, but first you need a full stadium, then can start adding further to the stadium experience. I imagine it would have been fantastic before the Doncaster play off home game, as The Valley was absolutely packed and a real feel good atmosphere already in the stands.0

Our resident DJ is always up for suggestions. He is particularly interested in what people what to be played immediately after the match has finished.0

No need for pyros, just get the ABBA tribute act in for some pre match entertainment.0

let the crowd sing and cheer the players off, intro the music after the fist pumps and lower it again for the tunnel jumps.Nothing worse than when a game finishes, the atmosphere is high and it then gets drowned out by some generic sweet Caroline crap14 -

It amazes me, the length these small clubs will go when the big guns are in town.4
