If, big if at the moment, AMB is out for say a month are we entitled to get a keeper in on loan seeing as our back up to Mannion would have zero first team appearances under his belt?

Hardly in the spirit of ‘streamlining’ though is it ! 😉😆
Without trying to disrespect either AMB or Mannion , I’m hoping that the summer brings with it a new GK that’s top end rather than adequate which I’m afraid I think our current pair barely are.
I think Mannion has something about him and will come good. Never fully convinced by AMB. Even if for one season, if we can sign an experienced keeper to come in that would be a big help to pass on some wisdom.
With that, I'm not sure who would be available in the summer as you dont want to sign any old tat either!
The rules for for an emergency keeper loan are you can get one if 'all the professional goalkeepers at a club are unavailable'. Mannion and AMB are the only players who are classed as that for the purposes of the rule so we could only get someone else in if Mannion also went down injured.
I don't remember us ever getting an emergency keeper in under the current rules.
Sam Walker?
He was a player we picked up on a free because we were short but he wasn't an emergency keeper loan.
The main memory of an emergency keeper loan is Peterborough being allowed to get one in not long before they played us in April, getting in an England u21 keeper and him saving a Jayden Stockley penalty in a match we went on to lose 1-0. We missed out on the Play-Offs on goal difference that season. I hate emergency keeper loans.

That is also my understanding of the current rule.
I also believe it can only be on a week by week basis. Iirc when Wycombe had keeper issues a few years ago they loaned three different goalies ( including Stephen Henderson).

Tony Warner? Luke Daniels?
Warner was a short term contract. Daniels was an 'emergency' under the old rules. Carl Ikeme was also signed on a similar basis
I assume the new rules came in when transfer windows were introduced to the EFL, as before then you could just loan a player in any position throughout the season until the end of March anyway.

I think it changed again a few seasons later. For example Chris Powell was able to bring in the likes of Hogan Emphraim., Lee Cook and Danny N'Guessen on a monthly ' emergency' loan during his promotion year
The rules were later tightened so it is only Keepers that can be signed outside the window now.

Ah yes, for a period of time EFL clubs could still loan players outside of the windows.
I still think it a shame that isn't still allowed, as what often happens now is clubs end up loaning "just in case" players in January to cover for injuries, who end up hardly playing, rather than a player they actually need in February or March.

He’s very limited to shots from outside the box as proved when he was in goal at the beginning of the season. I suppose the defence playing better may stop them, will have to wait & see.

A top end keeper should be above League 1 and even James Beadle once a youth Keeper of this Parish now on loan at Sheffield Wednesday from Brighton dropped a clanger or a high ball in the last minute to continue Coventry and Frank Lampard's good run in the championship.
If you watch the highlights you see mistakes with keepers from the Premier to League 2 every week.
I'm sure there are better keepers than Ashley and Mannion but I don't think either make that many mistakes. Hamer and Phillips both had their faults but overall were in credit.

At least Brownie would never stop talking to his defence...🙄
