  • Shocked small was bottom. Despite his erratic end product, still thought he was superb yesterday both defensively and as an offensive threat. So important to us.
  • Don’t you usually use a picture of the top points scorer for the game? The picture is Luke Berry, not Matty Godden. 🤔
  • Great stats across the board - wouldn’t have predicted that after half an hour yesterday!

I agree, end product aside I thought he played very well. Guess it was a day where all 11 put in good performances which is unusual!!

ah I did wonder, there are only a few pics of Matty in cafc colours and I have used them before, I hope this was he but at least I found a player who was on th pitch and did quite well oh well never mind

I was saying whoever came bottom would be very unlucky, as they all played well. I can only think it was Small because he shot when he might have passed a couple of times, maybe.

    You shouldn't be Shocked.
Thierry has a high ceiling but he wasn't sharp as his  first touch was off and his decision making wasn't 100%. I have no problem with Small going on to his left foot to have a shot when he's on the edge of the area BUT not when the top scorer is totally unmarked in oceans of space to probably make it 3-0 and gets the cigars out !
Despite Thierry and Edwards being fine players for CAFC I had them in the same position as the averages.
We didn't have a weak link which was reflected in the lowest scoring players on the day, Small and Edwards still scoring a respectable 7.09 and 7.10.

7.72 must be the highest players average for the season ? But we only have the graph back to the Rotherham game twice 🤔

You do a great job Lancs lad but that looks like Luke Berry in the picture after one of his 6 goals 🫡

  • soapbox - thanks for your comments lordromford advised me of my pic error yesterday :)
  • Highest mark ever for a ref?
  • Nine fouls in nearly 100m?  Was that because we were exceptionally clean or because the ref wasn't whistle happy and didn't blow for every little contact.  I suspect mainly the later but our tackling was very good.

Pretty sure from the highlights Godden was offside for that chance. Theirry is so far ahead of all of us that he knew that, hence passing it to the keeper instead

Irrespective of that, Small was in the better position whereas Godden was wider. The issue was Godden is of course a better finisher, but Small had a shot on goal uncontested from the middle of the area so not a crazy decision to take it on. I would hope we work on Small's finishing from that position as with his attributes it is a position he can find himself in pretty often.
  • TBF, i think his finishing has got better. First half of this season they were all over the bar, now they're all straight at the keeper. Just one more stage to go before he's putting them all in the corner.

True but I think it is definitely something he can work on and the coaching staff could help through repetition work. I imagine that is already happening as you are right, he is improving from blasting them over.
  • interesting the ref scored higher than Small and Edwards! He was v good for a change but that’s still a bit harsh on our players imo.
