I agree that I don't think it should have been a second yellow in the first half for their guy.
And to the referee's credit he showed consistency. Shortly after booking Small for his argy bargy with their wingback, he let a Small foul go unpunished which would normally be a yellow.
The one thing I find watching games on Sky Sports+ is that the crowd noise seems to be turned right down, and the commentator turned up far too loud, so you lose a fair bit of any atmosphere.
On reflection, that ball from Gillesphey was an 'if you get to it you score ball'. Fantastic! Pleased for Anderson. He has made some more than decent sub appearances lately. Bolton captain absolutely made two yellow card challenges but I have sympathy with the ref in not sending him off. Leaburn didn't have a good game, and Aneke highlighted what a poor game he had. I'd get Aneke working with Miles if possible. And lastly. I cant see how the ref saw the stamp as if he did and only issued a yellow he should be struck off the refs list.
I thought that we responded well after going a goal down, and our equaliser really seemed to throw them. To their credit, they were organised, and the likes of Small was trying to get forward. I agree that the subs did make a difference, mainly for stifling any sort of comeback from Bolton.
But, it was a hard watch, and I just don't trust this lot, even after the recent run. I can't get that run post Brum up until the Northampton game out of my thought process when I look at whether or not we can kick on. I still think there are issues in how cohesive and dominant a midfield we have, and I am not sure the combo of Leaburn and T Campbell will be effective enough over the remaining games (Also, it's clear that Godden and Aneke aren't starters, and Ahadme is woeful, so in my head, that's our preferred partnership).
I am comfortable with a combo of Edwards, Ramsay (when fit) and Small operating out wide, I think they are all capable enough. I'm not too concerned about the back three when Jones is playing, and although I don't rate Gillesphey, I don't think he's that big of a weak link in a back three, just my opinion.
The run of games now will show whether or not they have it in them. Optimism has been building, which I personally didn't buy into as we have seen these type of mini runs over the last 3/4 years, only for it to all fall apart.
Shrewsbury could be a real banana skin, but we should be beating them, as with Bristol Rovers. Blackpool away is a tricky tie, and then two more home games.
With 4 out the next 5 being at home, if we are going to be in the mix, you would be looking at 9 or 10 points at least from them
Yeah, it was a decent last 15 minutes, but there’s some serious result influenced marking going on in the Players Marks thread. Can’t see how anyone deserved an 8 if I’m honest.
The shock of getting the win meant most players got plus 1 or 2 for what they were heading for if they were on the field when the game swung in our favour.
I even said on the players marks, that I gave 6.5 for Macaulay 'swing and a miss' Gillesphey which included +2 for the ball into the box as it was the catalyst for the victory. Even 4.5 would've been generous for MG before that.
In fact, Gillesphey went from having a nightmare to a wet dream performance 😜
It was an average performance, but got +1 from me for that cross.
The first goal is all down to Gillesphey's stepping out of the backline to try and win a ball he could never get. Fair enough he made up for it with a fantastic assist, but he is dodgy.

Having been there last night, there wasn’t really much of an atmosphere anyway so you didn’t miss out on that front.
Ok, having seen it again I'd say there was intent & it was a stamp.
Very poor and hope retrospective action can be made here. If you look at Matete, he stands on Small with his right foot then lifts his left off the ground knowing he is applying his entire bodyweight on Small's leg bone while it's locked into the surface, without making it look dramatic. A real cheap shot.
On a plus, Small was really fired up yesterday. Great spirit from the lads wanting the win to show Bolton they can do a double over them.
How does retrospective bans come about, is it the officials that report it to the FA, or Charlton complain, or is there someone analysing each game at say the FA, or is it something else.
Referee Jacob Miles then booked the Bolton midfielder, although Hackett is keen to see him receive further punishment retrospectively from the FA.
Speaking to Football Insider about the incident, the former referee said:
“There is no place in football for the action of Metete who frankly should have received a red card for his stamping action on his opponent.
“Unacceptable and I would really like the authorities to review this incident and upgrade to a red.
“The referee having taken action might be the end of the matter. The referee may well be asked for his observations on what he saw. If there is a gap then the FA may charge the player”.

Matete wasn’t booked for the stamp though, he was booked for another incident moments later.
Just want to point out as well that's now twice I've celebrated against a team playing in a white kit, on a Tuesday night, away, with a Karoy Anderson 80+ minute winner, and this bloke has celebrated the same way and I have 😂
I think I want to start getting more pictures/videos like this so I might start hovering in the middle more.
I love capturing happy faces/smiles on camera for the memories.
Anyway, sorry for the spam, fortunately I was given a ticket and was able to go with a last minute decision, no regrets. I could smell a win in the air, it felt like Derby all over again.
Didn't think we played too well, but we showed passion and fight, fair fkn play. Can't bloody wait for Shrewsbury at home and the next few games. Please don't let us down Charlton.
Well, it wasn't a great game, but the subs definitely made a difference, and we did well to hang on to the win. The match thread was definitely somewhat manic depressive, epitomised by @WillmoreTheRed who wins the "Weathervane of the Match Thread award for going from this at 9:13pm
You bunch of moaners. Reckon we win this 1-2
with a goal from Jones (maybe even an unlikely Gillesphy assist) then a
winner near the end from Anderson. Mark my words.
Don't wanna boast but I called this way back on page 21.

I was just tidying up some grammatical errors... 🤣
Shortest vlog ever, I got a new camera and couldn't quite get the hang of it (if anyone has experience with dji osmo pocket please let me know)
But hope it's still a decent watch
Absolute fantastic watch, thanks for sharing. Really great to see the fans celebrating, absolute heroes all of them so the result was fully deserved for them. There are few better experiences in life than seeing Charlton win away 👍

Thank you mate, tbh, I don't think there's anything better personally.

Yeah, right. Anyone want to take a guess what this menu option does?
Jones seems to be referring to a headbutt. Has there been a headbutt in a previous match between the two of them?
I believe Evatt was previously banned for head butting an opposition player. (Not Charlton, I hasten to say!) Lloydy is probably giving him some verbals to encourage him to do the sane, as he has previous...

Busy all day so can only now express my delight at an away win even if lucky from reading the thread.
He terrified them when he came on and they went from reasonable to shambles.
Yeah I looked at it again and there was stamp.
Lloyd is just offering to be a reference for him to help him with his job search in the morning I reckon.
