He has joined us from Colchester to work with young players as a transition coach. On my phone so cannot copy on here, if you want more details it is on the Charlton OS
Seems like another sensible ‘building block” appointment so hard to knock. Kind of thing that was cut away during recent previous regimes. Welcome Dave.
Given the aim to get academy players into the first team it seems a good move on paper to appoint someone who’s done what must be a very specific role before.
Is he a replacement for James Brayne, who originally joined as an Individual Development Coach, before moving to his current Set Piece and First Team Coach?

Definitely a positive, but why do we learn this from Colchester not Charlton?

Huzzey joins the club following a five-and-a-half-year spell at Colchester United, where he held roles as Academy Manager, men’s first-team Assistant Manager and Academy to First-Team Transition Coach.

Does it matter?
Of course. If we'd heard it from Charlton first, what would people have to moan about?

Was briefly Maldon and Tiptree manager too. I’m sure that’s where Ron Dangerfield joined us from.

Means different things to different people these days.
I’m pretty sure he has previously worked with the first team at Colchester
Keeping that close to their chests, I wonder who it could be?
Colchester are struggling towards the bottom of the 4th tier. Whether that is down to poor management, coaching or players who knows?
Hopefully nothing to do with his coaching.
Charlton Athletic are pleased to confirm the appointment of Dave Huzzey as Individual Development Coach.
James Brayne, who was promoted to Set Piece and First-Team Coach in August 2024, previously held the role, which bridges the gap between academy and first-team football.
