People are overthinking this yet again. All we have to do is continue with what we’ve been doing and that is to go out and win each game as it comes around. We might not necessarily win every one of them but that’s OK, there is leeway for that courtesy of the fact that the other teams will drop points, though I think this Charlton team has it in them to actually win all 9 of the remaining games.
Anything is possible but we haven't even won as many as 4 in a row all season, so to suddenly win 11 is unlikely.
Good point. I just hate the lottery of the playoffs. It’s such a shame leaving the lottery of those games and a biggun at Wembley decide the fate of our better players - Kayne, Thierry, Edwards, Coventry would surely all be hunted
The alternative on our current standing is we end up 4th with no play off. How does that help our better players?
its inconcevable that Wrexham away won't me moved as SKY have to make the decision by Monday god lets hope its not a Thursday evening KO, that would be a massive blow for travelling addicks. Best - Worse case scenerio is a 12.30 KO on Saturday April 23rd horrible 3.5-4hr drive with breaks its a 7am or earlier departure. This one month rule where SKY can change fixture date needs to be amended to at least 2 months to allow fans to plan ahead for travel / hotel etc. What a shame its unlikely to be 3pm, I'm sure if were in the mix for an automatic and because its The Disney Welsh Dragons we will fill the away end but a Thursday evening that is a huge ask?
SKY will probably announce the scheduled live games for the Wrexham weekend on Thursday 27th March, whatever the kick-off time or day it's played we will sellout the away allocation of approx 1500 tickets, the one month rule has been in place since late December & did not stop us selling out our allocation at Stockport [12.30 k.o]. Whats so special about Wrexham?
I really don't know where the negativity has suddenly come from on here the last few days - you all seem to be getting in your own heads! We just need to take it one game at a time - Peterboro next with a ton of away fans making noise and a couple of their better players not available, a couple of ours potentially to return to the squad, a much needed whole week of rest as opposed to the Tuesday/Saturday grind of the past few weeks. There's plenty to stay positive about!
Nothing negative above saying we might not finish 2nd, nobody is saying we will go on a bad run and miss out on the playoffs. Playoffs would be an incredible achievement considering where we were at Christmas.
Does it not concern anyone that we've won twice at Wembley in the play offs & also at St Andrews in the play off replay.
3 out of 3.
Something's gotta give sometime.
Yeah, but those have been punctuated by semi-final losses to P****e, Swindon, and Shrewsbury so not like our play-off record is flawless.
Absolutely second place and avoid the worry of the play-offs in the preference though. Plus, I can't really afford to fly home for the final this time.

The roulette wheel has turned up red three times in a row… the next one has to be black!
A quick Google tells me there's only around a 5% chance of the fourth spin also being red. Your roulette analogy has now got me more worried than Golfie's original post.

I was going to explain how wrong this is but it occurs to me I may be about to get wooshed so i'm not going to touch it...
Why do people keep saying we are 5 points behind Wrexham and Wycombe? It's 2 and goal difference as we will have to beat them both to have a chance.
Because it is 5 ? and may well be 8 by 5pm Saturday.
We are 2 points behind, and could be 1 point ahead of both by the end of Saturday.
It is beyond unlikely that we can get promoted without beating them both, so I don't see what the point is in viewing it as a 5 points gap. It's 2, we need to beat them both.

It's a way of looking at it Brazil old mate, which I kinda like, even if it is a bit of convoluted reasoning...🤪
I can't really imagine him in the dressing room at Posh on Saturday, saying:
"It's alright lads, just go through the motions and settle for the playoffs. Most of Charlton Life has already thrown in the towel and accepted 2nd best".

Not really no, but i can't say i'm surprised it concerns you.
Before Christmas we were worried about where the club was heading and how long it would be before Jones was sacked. So just enjoy the run we're on and see where it takes us.

You can say we've got 93 points if it makes you feel any better then deduct points as we drop them.
Everyone knows we need to beat them, juts don't see the benefit of counting the points as if we've already obtained them.
Very exciting few weeks ahead, just hope we don't miss out right at the end and fall away in the playoffs as it seems like as fans we now see the playoffs as a failure.

For me as a non superstitious person I think quite the opposite. Winning 3/3 is a good thing, the result of the next one, should it happen, will be almost entirely based on the performance of both teams on the day, regardless of prior squads performance.
I think the only benefit of our record to date would be a mentality aspect. Just as Real always seem to do well in the champions league and Tottenham struggle to win anything.
Other than that the match will be decided regardless of previous results.

That's an excellent way of looking at it and going forwards will be the only way I view the table 😂
93 points, what a season. A draw will take us down to 91 on Saturday which I'm expecting, not too shabby.

The roulette wheel has turned up red three times in a row… the next one has to be black!
The Martingale system's fallacy - the previous spins have no effect on the next spin and the chances of it being red are exactly the same for each spin. It would be different (around 5% probability) if you wanted to predict the next four spins collectively.
Wycombe play Huddersfield, reading, orient, Charlton, Bolton and stockport in the run in, surely if we have caught 7 points on them in the last ten matches then we will overtake them soon. Wrexham have an easier run in like us and we need them to lose against Stockport and for us to beat Peterborough. Then only 2 points behind it sets up the finale at their place. Anything other than a Charlton and Stockport win on the weekend and it is probably too steep to catch up.

And even then there will be the unexpected bad performance or an opposition keeper turning into prime Banks or Schmeichel for that game. Or a ref giving a horrendous red card.
It's a cliche, but when you have to win every game, and know one bad result can cost automatic promotion, there are no easy games.
