  • It is hammering down again now here at Crawley #cafc

  • We found a cracking pub (Goffs Manor) and a superb lunch - walked in ground at exact time it was called off - very poor by Ref to leave it until then - I’m actually not that fussed, as watching football in these conditions is no fun at all
    Remember Yeovil?
    😳

5-10 years ago that game gets played. It's a winter sport and this country gets rain. The players were passing it fine and even in the problem area of the centre circle, the ball was bouncing to waist height.

Ref a total shithouse and Crawley a tinpot operation. Fuck both of them
  • barnsley 1-0 wrexham against the run of play.
  • Non league Woking are at home just 30 miles from Crawley and they have managed to play. Sometimes now in my opinion refs are just too keen to call games off.

Me and a mate still talk about that game when we used to go to Away Games

    It's down to Crawley.
They knew the weather was going to be bad so why didn't they cover the pitch 😡
Of course…..but they have already pulled this stunt once already this season when they had a significant number of injuries……well bless my soul, just like their present injury crisis, so of course again they did nothing to protect the pitch.
EFL need to take a good look at this……it stinks if you ask me!😡

That game had to be called off. Certain parts of the pitch where the ball wouldn’t bounce or wouldn’t roll. Dangerous and frustrating for the players. And more heavy rain on the way apparently during the game. My only gripe is why it wasn’t called off earlier. This late decision is not good for the fans.

    The evidence you asked for
I'm afraid, in my opinion, Rob's opinion isn't evidence.

I'm a bit old school. The images I saw showed the ball moving pretty well. Having seen us play away at West Brom in the cup, away at Yeovil, away at Chelsea, I'm firmly of the view that players adapt their game to conditions, including the pitch.

Ultimately its a judgement call on the part of the ref.
  • I'm about 40 minutes from Crawley, just taken the dog for a walk, got wet but it's hardly a monsoon. Can't believe it was left that late to make a decision. Will be interesting to see if the managers were in agreement or if one was one wasn't. Form we are in I'd expect us to have wanted to play.
Yeah, it's barely raining in Bromley about 40 minutes away I can't believe the ref called it off.  :D
  • Will we see Leaburn play again?
    Well…..what a happy little fella you are.🙄

That open end behind the goal where we were standing, took the full brunt of the wind driven deluge. But we all sang on.

Except those who took refuge in the C.L I.T coach at half time 🙃

Jones opinion is that there was no evidence.

"To be fair to the ref, he gave it every chance and his decision was based basically on the forecast, not the conditions at the time, because the conditions at the time, I've played in far worse than that."

So what, it's barely raining in Bromley?  :D

NJ: "We're disappointed, we wanted to play the game. One, because we're in good form and we want games to come now thick and fast, we don't mind that. But also because we got here and prepared and it's such a late call off."#cafc

NJ: "But it was more to do with the forecast and would it improve. He was consistent from the off, he said if we can't finish it then I'm very reluctant to start it."#cafc

Interesting comments from NJ - particularly the middle one.

Reminds me of Southeastern cancelling services because there's a forecast of wind tomorrow, which may or may not cause problems.

Surely if it's payable now then you start playing? If it gets worse, becomes unplayable, or becomes evident that it is dangerous, then stop the game then?
Exactly... Its also a forecast, its not a 100% certainty that it'll happen either. I've been out when the Met Office has suggested a strong chance of rain which has never even materialised.

Jones has also said to CAFC that the referee didnt want to start the game if it meant that it may not finish - Well at least the fans would get to see SOMETHING rather than a completely wasted trip.

As others have said complete WOKE nonsense calling this off.
explain how this is woke? does it just mean that you don't agree with it? Woke is political liberality and left wing attitudes regarding discrimination. Not generally used to describe a bit of bad weather.
I've been reading it as a bit of a joke exaggeration
