  • Haha. Works every time. A bit of criticism in my last post and the bowlers conjure up two quick wickets. Glam 19/2 with 4 tricky overs left before stumps. CoyK.
  • Looking at the averages, Grant Stewart has had a superb season with the bat.

    Compton 977 at 51
    Stewart 639 at 49
    Benjamin 371 at 42
    Muyeye 570 at 36
    DBD 670 at 34

Two notouts help the average, but then Muyeye has two notouts also.

The bowling by contrast looks grim

  • What a woeful signing kashif Ali has been
  • It's a bit worrying that a new contract hasn't been announced or, for that matter a county cap, for Stewart. He is a big part in both white and red ball and has cemented that place as the all rounder batting at 8. With Dudgeon to follow at 9 next season, we really will have some depth to our line up albeit it is time for the top 7 to consistently step up.

  • Wicket to Parkinson

    40-3

    Glamorgan require another 149

  • Great stumping by Finch off Parkinson. One suspects that it is too late though given Glamorgan need just another 81 runs to win.
  • 168-4 at lunch. Just 21 more runs required.

    Incredible glove work

  • Wicket to Parkinson first ball after lunch.

  • 4 wickets for Parky. If he had another 100 runs to play with, things could have been interesting.

    And 8 in the game.
  • At least you haven't done the cricket equivalent of being 3 up on Millwall and losing
  • Great news on evison

dawkins in the squad for tomorrow game, hoping he is included

    New deal for Evison
    2 year deal
  • Good that he's staying, though his numbers this season have been unexceptional.
  • Interesting times and good to see us taking this opportunity to blood Jaydn, Ekansh and Dawkins. With Crawley unavailable and DBD, Joe Denly, Benjamin, Cohen and Jas all injured, we might have selected the likes of Kashif Ali, Leaning, O'Riordan or Gilchrist but have resisted doing so because it's all about next season rather than this one. Should they all play, that would mean us having three players in the side 19 or younger. For that reason we should, perhaps, embrace anything positive they do in the knowledge that this will help them as stepping stones, hopefully, to next season and beyond.

  • It does feel a bit silly to have Gilchrist on our books if we're not going to play him. We might as well loan him to Warwickshire.

All three youngsters are, indeed, playing. Quinn has been omitted from the 12. Kent won the toss and have elected to bowl.

I suspect that the reason for not doing this is in case we get another couple of injuries to our seamers. Equally, Gilchrist is not necessarily certain to walk into the Warwickshire side.

  • Compton drops Patel at third slip off Agar with no runs on the board.

    Patel brings up his century
    185-0
  • Grant Stewart skipper for this match so hopefully will be staying on.
  • This week the counties vote on reducing the CC to 12 games, which will effectively mean the end of summer CC games. Apparently needs 12 counties in favour. 10 have so far come out in favour with 2 in the balance. We are amongst the 6 against. Not hopeful
  • Agar strikes to clean up Buddinger

    37-1 (10.4)
  • Haven’t been able to watch recently but sounds like Agar might be finding some of his old form again?

He has been in the last two games - took 5-98 in the last match. As I've said previously, he hadn't played for three months or so when he joined us whereas, with a minor break, he played continually between the two seasons last year as he joined us much earlier.

Some of those 10 counties are doing so despite the feelings of their supporters. The ECB will then blame the counties for not playing spinners when the all the CC matches are played in April, May and September.
  • Not that it ultimately matters but we've been given an 8 point CC penalty
