What a difference playing with a bit of width and the midfield actually managing to pass the ball to each other makes. I think we've all been able to see where the problems are but it's nice to see how big an effect getting those basic things right has.
Well that's ensured we don't beat an unwelcome record. It has taken our 20th game of the season to score 3 in a league match and in our 102 year history there have been just 3 occasions when it took us more games:
I decided to go to sainsburys rather than listen to the commentary for the first half, and just got back and surprised to see this.
Do I put the second half on and we concede 4, or do I go and do something else and we might win??
You’ll be safe. Northampton are the most hopeless side I’ve seen us play in years. They have no manager and they don’t have anything on the bench to change the game either.

this in abundance! Putting the ball on the box, being front footed and trying to actually play football has made us look very confident... Small at RB until ramsey is back should probably have happened a bit more
Can’t wait for him to cup his ears to the fans after beating managerless Northampton
Assuming we go on to win this it would be really, really nice if he could just enjoy it rather than give a hard done by 'told you so' interview after the game. It's not endearing him to prod back every time
Really happy to finally see 45 minutes of us actually playing football we all said this squad was massively under performing hopefully our season starts today !!
Didn't know Tyler Roberts played for them. Thought he was better than that, how's he ended up at Northampton?
was thinking the same
Seems he's still on a 4-year contract at Birmingham. Obviously a victim of their influx of players. Thought he'd get loaned to a better team than Northampton, though maybe they didn't want him going to a rival.

Assumed Nathan would see this game against an out of form managerless club as an ideal chance to shut up shop, try hold on to 0-0 and maybe even win it in the last ten minutes. (i.e. the same as every week).
First time I've ever seem Doherty pass the ball forwards!
I said after the last match, that our change in style was positive.
Yes I know that Northampton are dreadful just now, but Jones obviously has got the message that hoofball is a shite idea at long last.
Has anybody else noticed that this is only the second match since his return that Leaburn hasn't looked completely uninterested?
Very positive so far, long may it continue.
Possibly because he's playing with his mate TC up front, has been given width and not expected to just flick balls on to some lazy git playing alongside him...

‘Yeah’
’Again’

I pop out for 30 minutes at 0-0 and come home to this, what’s going on?

I'm mostly really happy for the supporters who've made the journey. Tuned into the 2nd half, more of the same please charlton!
Andy Scott: hello
Josh Friedman: Scott, great half v Northampton, might as well cancel those EPL loans you had lined up.
Another phone rings
Des Buckinham: Hello Charlie
Charlie Methvan: Hi Des, hope you're enjoying your time off. Look, that zoom call with the owners, we're going to have to postpone.
COYR!!
