Five month old - impressed.Sage said:Said to my 5 month old this morning we’re going Charlton today and he laughed and then whinged straight after. Thought it summed up being a Charlton fan quite well recently. If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry… 😂
I do actually think we’ll get a win today though. Don’t ask me how.
The way NJ was talking in pre match, we’re going with a back 3 and wingbacks so expect to see TC at wingback again.
Beyond that, who knows. Just hope we can come away with 3 points.1 -
He then said “please can I support someone else - Nathan Jones is sapping the life out of me “ShootersHillGuru said:

I'm just waiting to see if my son wants to go. If he doesn't, I won't bother either. It's painful enough sitting through this turd-fest with company, so I certainly won't bother on my own. Every summer I get sucked in to renewing my ST, with promises of things will get better, but it's just getting worse.5

I dunno. My xg for Charlton these days is 0.5 because we are shit. Isn’t that logical?EveshamAddick said:
Can anyone explain how if our xG is so good, why are we so shit?clive said:- This will be just the third league meeting between Charlton Athletic and Mansfield Town and the first match between the pair since the Addicks won 3-0 in April 1978.
- Mansfield Town have won just two of their last 10 away Football League games against sides from London (D3 L5), keeping just two clean sheets across that time.
- At home in League One this season, Charlton have faced chances from their opponents worth just 5.2 xG in total, the lowest such tally in the competition.
- Mansfield have lost each of their last five league games in succession and could lose six in a row for the first time since November 2013.

Turd-fest - brilliant! Not expecting much today, there was no reaction after the Crawley debacle, just the usual grim attritional approach. If L. Jones plays, like last week, we have a better than average chance of a clean sheet. That’s it.1

In the fans bar it’s bloody freezing no heating on. Saving money for major signings in the transfer window. 😂😂2

Good to see the Sun out at long last, at least down here in Medway - Good day to be going to watch a Football match... Unless you're heading to the Valley3

This is exactly the type of post that Gavin Carter needs to see and get back to the owners.tangoflash said:I'm just waiting to see if my son wants to go. If he doesn't, I won't bother either. I think we’ve all been conned into getting our STS.We’re going nowhere at the moment but not sure sacking the manager will help. The board need to put there hands in there pockets but that’s not going to happen. Tough times at the valley at the moment.1

Not sacking the manager and continuing with the current course of inept tactics plus crap (or, even worse, feigning crapness) players is hardly an incentive for the long-lost faithful to come rolling back either.Brown59 said:I think we’ve all been conned into getting our STS.We’re going nowhere at the moment but not sure sacking the manager will help. I have no idea why I think this but I think it will be a 3-0 win. I think we'll score early as well. I'm fully prepared to be proven wrong though

I couldn't give a stuff about Strictly (but interested in the darts), I was merely providing reference points for a sacking timescale.jimmymelrose said:
I doubt our owners care about darts or Strickly.Briston_Addick said:
Anything other than a resounding victory for Charlton and Jones will be gone (or should be) by the time the World Darts Championship starts on Sunday.mattwils said:Very hard one to gauge. Absolutely no idea who will play. If we lose or draw and play badly, the crowd will make it very clear how they feel and pressure will ramp up on jones. This lot are in terrible form, worse than us, but so were Bristol Rovers and they totally outplayed us. I’m praying for an upturn, but predict a 1:2 defeat
Another shocking defeat should see him on his way before Strictly starts on Saturday evening.
It strikes me as ironic that Duchatelet was shouted down for suggesting supporters go dancing after the match, but for twenty years the flagship Saturday evening TV programme in the UK has been a dancing competition programme.
A clueless performance and horrendous loss should result in an instant dismissal, whereas anthing else other than a resounding and comprehensive win should provoke discussions amongst the owners hence a Sunday departure.
In my opinion, if we have to sit through a first half like we did against Crawley I'd want to see Pearcey give the HT team talk and take over as caretaker for the second half.0 -
I would love you to be right mate whereas I think we will set up to keep it tight after all we are playing the mighty Mansfield !!! The usual backwards, sideways passing until the long high ball hoping for a defensive mistake playing for a 1-0 borefestCAFCBill said:I have no idea why I think this but I think it will be a 3-0 win. I think your prediction maybe more accurate but I live in hope. I don't know why lolAndyG said:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9W9HvVALGj8&ab_channel=CharltonAthleticFootballClub - This is actually quite a nice bit of content from the club. The guy in the video seems like he's got a really nice personality they should get him to do more stuff like this. 4 -
In a crisis? Need some points just before Christmas? Are you from a shite northern town playing the highest you've been in the leagues in decades? Then come on down to The Valley Clinic, where Dr. Jones (calling Dr. Jones) and his crack team of absolute has-beens, hanger-ons, never-weres and barely-theres will be on hand to see to your every need!4

Left to right across the back and back again. Bit of pressure from the opposition and back to the keeper to lump it forward to nobody in particular. Rinse and repeat for 90+ minutes. Deep f@cking joy.

Not joking. If you've been watching something for 3 months, the final is a big thing, and it's not the sort of programme to watch later on demand.stoneroses19 said:
Joking? Otherwise, we've hit a low point when fans are choosing Saturday night tv over The Valley.killerandflash said:Either way, for once I won't be there. With the Strictly Come Dancing final at 6pm, no way could I get home in time after the match. If we had been playing better football, I would have gone, but with the rubbish football at the moment, I'll stream it instead.
Which ironically benefits the club, as I'll be paying my £10 to watch it from Belgium, which is more than I would spend at the game tomorrow.
It would have been a harder decision if we were playing well.0 -
Hopefully Mannion is back fit0

Front footed ... but a massive gap between bat and pad and bowled through the gate by a straight one.Fumbluff said:FRONT FOOTED HERE WE COME
Or, in football terms, simple ball through the midfield with the centre backs in different postcodes, slotted past the keeper.0 -
Its hard to see where our goals come from.
1-10 -
NJ drinking in the last chance saloon.0

I think we’ll win this one, but if we don’t then I think we’re in real trouble.0

Obviously nobody is expecting Charlton to score so trees and synthetic rope makers would be my guessChiAddick said:Its hard to see where our goals come from.

I'm expecting rinse and repeat . Anything better will be progress.
I hope Leaburn , Docherty and A Campbell do not start and we revert to 442 with Jones and Mitchell as centre halfs.
Prediction . 2-2 after going behind again (Ahadme and Kanu)1 -
I think we either go
GK
Mitchell Jones Potts
Laqeretabua Taylor Docherty Anderson Edwards
Kanu Ahadme
Or
GK
Edmonds-Green Mitchell Jones Edwards
Taylor
Docherty Anderson
Berry
Kanu Godden
But I'm not happy with either lineup tbh0 -
With the run Mansfield are on (5 straight defeats) and the fact they’ve never ever beaten us, an away win is nailed on today.1
