Three away wins in December since the Powell era.2 -
It had to be Portsmouth didn’t it7

I knew I had missed one. That is a truly horrendous record. Probably still order my Northampton tickets now.2
-
Leading indicator… if we win away in December we have a 67% chance of getting promoted 👀
Because that’s definitely how stats work9 -
Ajose was still part of that squad in 2018/19... Wouldnt have ever thought that one0

Shocking.0

So why are we, as a club, so bad in December? Awful mental health month as it is and it doesn’t help when your football team is rubbish for the duration of it either!0
-
It’s usually the time of year an injury crisis has exposed our lack of depth and there are a lot of games so it makes it even worseCallumcafc said:So why are we, as a club, so bad in December? The same applies to other clubs though. We've been competing against the likes of Exeter and Lincoln, not Arsenal and City.NabySarr said:

after Stoptober and Movember the players fully embrace 'Can't remember, December' and get on it for a month.Callumcafc said:So why are we, as a club, so bad in December? Awful mental health month as it is and it doesn’t help when your football team is rubbish for the duration of it either!0 -

It's not just December though is it.

As a club we need to lead the way in backing a winter break in English football11
-
which is why we have been floundering around in this division for years. poor recruitment, poor management and poor owners.killerandflash said:

On top of the obvious above we also have a habit of signing players who are either injury prone or soon to become injury prone when they become "charltonised"
Just look at someones bright idea to give Aneke a 3 and a half year contract?! a handful of a player when fit but rarely is fit and who i presume is injured right now.0 -
I think the problem is that 2011 win was so good it cursed the month for us from then on. I think we were 1-0 then 2-1 down, won in the last minute with Danny Green's first goal for the club and Wednesday conceded two 90th minute goals against Walsall to lose 2-1. Over the course of a few seconds we went from ending the day with a 3 point lead at the top to a 7 point one. It's like the last minute win at Wembley; Charlton joy must draw from somewhere else and one big day out costs us for years down the line. It's just science.Callumcafc said:Pompey 1-2 Charlton, 11/12/2018

Cal, you aren't being very positive in this thread. I don't like it one bit 😢3
-
Ha. Funny thing is I don’t really think I’m that positive - people get the wrong impression because I try to widen perspectives after a bad result, rather than jump on the dog-pile with everyone else.O-Randy-Hunt said:Cal, you aren't being very positive in this thread. I don't like it one bit 😢2 -
By December out best players are invariably crossing their fingers for a January transfer and trying desperately not to get injured.Callumcafc said:So why are we, as a club, so bad in December? This is absolutely pathetic given a lot of those years were in league one.shirty5 said:Charlton Athletic’s league form in December since 2014Played: 52Won: 8Draws: 20Defeats: 24GF: 54GA: 76Percentage win rate: 15.38%No wins in the last 12 league games in that monthLast league win in December - 11/12/20212 -
The 76 goals against stat, is bad enough, let alone a 15% win rate.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

Just out of interest, have we sacked a manager in every December or January in the the last 10 years? ( I know Bowyer was the exception).0 -

I just looked up what he's doing now. Seems to have retired in 2021 when he was 30 and went into coachingForeverAddickted said:Ajose was still part of that squad in 2018/19... Wouldnt have ever thought that one0
