Been out of loop for a few days and just saw this shocking news. What a wonderful sports journalist Kevin was and true friend of Charlton Athletic. This is a big big loss. RIP Kevin.1

Kevin's reports never failed to bring insight, wit and entertainment from even the grimmest of Charlton matches.0

aliwibble said:Now cackling at @KillersBeard's story about Kevin v Nigel Adkins on today's Charlton Live: https://x.com/charltonlive/status/1863293487636193686And what’s your name - came the question from Adkin’s. Kevin Nolan, loudly he responded.Afterwards he looked around and said I should have said Peter Burrowes….. (well that’s how I remember it)5

A talented writer who was insightful, honest, thoughtful and knowledgeable.

Late to this, loved his writing, even in the depths of despair with the results over much of the recent past reading his prose was wonderful (I used to share it with other non-Charlton football fans, who were at least jealous of us for one thing).
He will be missed.

Kevin Nolan’s reports back in the 80s in The Mercury were incomparable.
They were not sports reports - they were artistic sports prose.
RIP to a great journalist.4 -

A bit about Kevin in the local press's trade website: https://www.holdthefrontpage.co.uk/2024/news/tributes-to-football-reporter-who-was-still-covering-games-at-87/2

There is a full page tribute to Kevin in Saturday's programme v Mansfield, written by Peter Burrows
It also mentions that Kevin’s funeral will take place on Friday, January 3, with Mass at 10.30am at the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, in Downham, followed by a noon cremation at Grove Park Crematorium.6 -
Thinking of Kevin today.12

Service was very poignant and touching, his family did him proud.14

It was a very good service - a big turnout too. So much so that they quickly ran out of copies of the order of service.4
