I'd love to think that the boyfriend's name was Fuchs. If they got married, she could change from a Wank to a Fuchs.
Mrs Plum not having English as her first language loves subtitles, and I like them too. Good to have if the television needs to be quiet like for sleeping babies and children. Good if you’re hard of hearing obviously. The biggest challenge is during live speech. Subtitles used to be (maybe still are) done by BBC Scotland for the BBC. There was once a Newsnight discussion about the troubles in Northern Ireland where the subtitler wrote ‘left footers’ instead of Catholic. Never have subtitles on during sport as the words obscure some of the play.
I also believe subtitles helped the kids with reading and writing and language development, but I swear late afternoon Countdown on in the background whilst playing on the living room carpet was one of the biggest aids to language development.
