  • Playing in the centre of a back 3 is easier than playing the other two roles imo, not that Jones hasn't been good, but the task is simplified

Lloyd Jones set to sign a new deal according to Alan Nixon.
I’d put that on hold after yesterday
Bad days happen to every player, definitely need to sign him up.
He has quite a lot .  He’s been good this season , although playing in the middle of a back 5 is pretty easy .
Easy? Let’s sell him for a profit and play an academy player in his place then?
I reckon Zac Mitchell could play there .  Alex Mitchell would find it a lot easier there too .
The middle is about intelligence, mobility and verbal organisation.
    The outer 2, yes .

Yeah, that's why I work in admin, I need the challenge in my life
  • We need to sign players now, not wait till deadline day as our season will be officially over by then.

Jones likes to get his business done early so it might mean we aren’t signing anyone

    Funniest/daftest comment for some time.
  • Like I said, Jones going.
     Now where ???
    Highly misunderstood is our Ronnie.
Just needs to work on his punctuation.

If true then I am pretty sure we write next season off too. We lose Leaburn and Jones and probably small at the end of the season so yet again we will need another complete re build. He signed dog shit this season so if he thinks we don need any improving till the end of the season then he should sacked or shot I dont care anymore.

Would be nice to go into a summer and not need another full rebuild because we recruited well in January but that never seems to happen.
Amen to that but fear it's merely a pipe dream.

I agree but we are both talking about a manager who compared our current squad to a championship squad a few days ago so who knows what goes on inside his head

Ideally you build well in the summer and don’t need to pay over the odds for anyone in January. January recruitment is so much harder

Oh absolutely , we always go into January needing key pieces because the summer business hasn't worked out or it's a different manager. Does make me wonder how recruitment is actually run at the club.

But what happens if you don't recruit well in the summer  ??  Do you try to make amends in January or wait for the summer transfer to open in June and start the whole process once again ?

A bit of a rhetorical question as it's the latter and has been for a number of years.

That’s the big question. We’re stuck in a position where there’s a (very) slim chance we make the playoffs so you can’t really just sit on your hands but any money we do spend would probably go further in the summer. Ideally we’d be looking for Small/Ramsay signings that are cheap but can make a difference, they’re just really hard to find

No it’s not there talking about Rotherham getting in the play offs and their still below us … no season over till it’s mathematically impossible , mind you our season will restart after Bolton as we never won there
    Never won there.
That's news to me as I saw us win there 2 0

    I was, also the 2-1 in 2016.

You forgetting Stevie 2000 when we won 2-0 soon after we lost in QF up there

I'm sure I have the same effect on other's sometimes, but once in while someone will post something, on here, that's just so absurd you don't really know how to respond.

I know it is mate, it's been over for monhs. Need to some how hang around those playsoffs to keep fans on side and stop any half decent player having an easy decision to leave next season. 7 points out the plays off with 2 games in hand. If the turds in charge allow that gap to get even bigger by not signing players before the 3 matches (more like 2 matches now as Bolton is in 2 days) are up then we are shit street again and this rinse and repeat shit we have been watching for years will never end.

I’ve said it before but Jones is basically happy with what he’s got. If the right player at the right price becomes available then I think there’s money but Jones is quite content.

Have to disagree on that Rambo.

We were always going up and we were poor in that q/f, we should have rolled them over.

Heard that he’s a Millwall fan, so he might be right with that one to be fair.

Obviously isn’t Charlton though, as we’ve definitely won there.
  • "According to Pete O’Rourke, Rangers, Hibernian, Hearts and Aberdeen are all eyeing moves for Allan Campbell! Allan is currently on loan at Charlton but he is interested in a move back up to Scotland by the end of this month! He has made 16 appearances but only started in 6 League One games."
