Braziliance said:sam3110 said:Braziliance said:I genuinely think I was the only person who credited Carlisle on their transfer activity? So that's fast become a bit of a Charlton Life myth that 'people' said when it couldn't have been more than myself a couple of others?
I don't think anyone was jealous that Luke Armstrong went to Carlisle. I don't think anyone actually wanted the players Carlisle were signing here.
From my point of view, it was more so that Carlisle were bang in trouble, and instead of just letting it happen, their owners at least tried to correct it and signed a couple of decent players in Armstrong and Harry Lewis. I'd watched Harry Lewis in person so knew he was a decent keeper and an upgrade.
They went down, and they're struggling now. The point is being missed entirely though. They spent money to at least try, and have ready made players for league2. It hasn't worked, and they're looking likely for a double relegation, which might suggest their troubles are deeper now than a few decent signings?
Either way, it's fast becoming a Charlton myth and a complete exaggeration.
I never wanted us to compete with Carlisles signings, but we were both in a relegation fight, and reinforcements would have aided us, that was my point. Not the money they spent, or the quality of player, but that they were trying to increase their odds.
We are now in an opposite position where we have a squad that's a couple of injuries away to key players disrupting our season. We also have some players who look very tired 60 minutes onwards last game. A few signings, when money can be spent, despite the myths, would seriously help us. If they don't, we will have had to have made some additions in the summer anyway.
No matter what I say though, this time next year, the same old posts will be made. It would just be nice to not see the included Carlisle posts be a recurring theme along with the usual nonsense as it's a complete fabrication and based upon 2 users posting, not a decent % of people saying it.
Apologies to the people who check the thread for actual rumours and seen my clutter.
Petty, petty fucking forum. Especially the last 2-3 years.40 -

Friend of mine just bumped into Tracey Leaburn as she was coming out of a fancy dress shop. Apparently she was holding three sets of musketeer costumes. One for each of our new signings being unveiled this evening. She says they wanted to do something special for the photoshoot.
Based on the sizes of the costumes my mate reckons the three signings will be Owen Moxon, Harry Cornick and Jamie Jellis.16 -
The Eddie Yates rumour is rubbish.
*some may get this, others may not*5 -
Tom Barkhuizen out of contract at Derby in the summer. I wonder if he could be a possibility ?

The best way to gain promotion
Take the best player from one of your competitors in League One.
Boost your own chances, and diminish their chances

I’ll be pretty miffed if we don’t strengthen this window. We are practically in a play off position and need to take advantage of the position we find ourselves in. You should strengthen when in a position of strength. If we don’t do so now there is no guarantee we’ll be in such a position next season. I’m not asking the owners to spend millions but they need to speculate to accumulate as it were.10

If Kanu is going out on loan I'd want a striker to go with our 2 potential midfield signings. Too much reliance there on Aneke,Ahadme and Leaburn all staying fit.0

Rodriguez is 36 in the summer and he's not exactly been prolific for a while. That's a big wage for a non goalscoring forward.

Wrexham do love signing aging forwards don’t they?
Always had a soft spot for Jay Rodriguez since I saw him score live at the toolbox one time and give it to the home crowd afterward.1 -
Callumcafc said:Allan Campbell got about 550 minutes. Terry Taylor about 500. Potts got 75. Hylton got 44. Edun and Asiimwe got 0 between them.
We need one midfielder to “replace” the minutes and ideally exceed the performance of Campbell and Taylor, hopefully by being a bit more attack minded on the ball than those two.
Otherwise I don’t expect there’ll be much else done.
