Careless behaviour to be saying what he said and having it recorded.  But that video was from a couple of years ago I believe.

Also careless to be caught doing a line of coke - especially if it was during the Euros this year (that's a bit more daft)

But the fact is there's a couple of years between the videos - but he has pupils like saucers in both - could suggest the cocaine is slightly more than occasional recreational use.  That's indicative of a bigger issue and will lead to a lot more scrutiny of anything he has done that is contentious.

Whilst I hate the whole media pile-on and cancel culture - this man has to be white than white in his line of work and he's just proven to be anything but that.  He's literally got nobody to blame but himself but the housing of him is unlikely to end well
Why would having pupils like saucers suggest it's more than occasional? 🤔
  • What does the person releasing this footage want? For him to kill himself? No doubt if that were to happen the red tops who have caused it will be writing pleasant tributes to him.
probably get paid for his contributions
  • Yeah this all needs to stop. He's apologised, just let him ref and move on.

Eyes like that are typical of cocaine I believe

we have 2 videos - one with saucer eyes and one of him hoovering up a white substance that may or may not be cocaine.

It doesn’t really shout “isolated incident” to me.
  • It is clear to me that the FA will have to update its anti-doping regulations - and in short order.

As far as I can see the drugs rules apply to players "and other participants". Obviously a referee must be considered a participant, yet I can find no reference to the match day officials being included in the random drug test process that players must put up with.

Obviously this has to change;  being drugged up would certainly be an explanation for some of the diabolical refereeing decisions in League One.

If the allegations against Mr Coote prove to be true he must surely be expecting a lengthy ban from all football activities.  Meanwhile one also hopes that organisations awash with money - the FA and PGMOL - can find sufficient funds to support any errant officials through a rehabilitation process.

    Rehabilitation? For what?
  • His addiction. He’s done a few lines of gear and now he’s a full blown addict apparently.

  • Profanely slagging off a manager he’s had a row with is unprofessional
Snorting speed or charlie is illegal however widespread it might be
Both issues PGMOL and FA will have to address
But Coote’s worst offence by far is allowing both to be recorded *
    Exactly how stupid is he?
That proves beyond any doubt he ain’t got the brains to do his job
    * if they are genuine

Neither of you read my carefully worded last paragraph properly did you?  Either that, or you don't understand what "any" means.
  • I did but I wasn’t referring to that. I was referring to the other posts further up that stated he had a drug problem.
  • Not sure why he is getting ostracised for a bit of gear. I think half the refs at The Valley this season have been on ket judging by their performances

It's an illegal Class A drug.
  • 🤣🤣🤣
  • I think people need to realise the difference between recreational drug use and addiction

The problem being that main stream media ain’t interested and will hang him out to dry.
It’s like saying you like a beer then you’re an alcoholic. I’ve known many people over the years that like a bit of packet but aren’t drug addicts.

It’s too black and white for some people tho.

Remember the government they hate dictate the taxable drugs, so god forbid you do an illegal one.

You do realise that people with a certain personality trait will became addicted to drink or drugs.

Talk to men and women in cardboard city in London.
Sit in an A+E for hours(kidney stones) as I did recently on two occasions and see the results of drink and drugs.

I'm so pleased that CL posters are just casual recreational drug users and if they went a few months without their high they won't get a craving. Well done all, with your controlled habit.
  • Media are absolutely hanging him out to dry. One article i saw this morning had a headline "Man United star blasts suspended Premier League referee David Coote”.

The article has barely any mention of Coote at all because it was Michael Oliver as the VAR who basically talked him into reviewing it and giving a penalty for West Ham.

Best thing that could happen is he gets to ref a game this weekend, he gets a standing ovation from fans and a bit of bants, and realises that most of the general public really don’t give a hoot about what he’s done and then everyone can move on. No one gets cancelled and the bloke then cracks on with his life and learns from the experience
...at Anfield.  Just for the shits & giggles!

But yeah, pretty much agree with that.

I dont think many would have been offended by what he said, just Klopp & the scousers.

Doing Class A to the media/FA/FIFA is something totally else though.

Not sure he’d get away with crack mate?!?
  • It would be ironic if David Coote's last game in the Premier before going into the Jungle and becoming a big celebrity was a Liverpool win and the memory of him running along signalling no foul when the last man fouled Mo Salah before Darwin Nunez slammed the ball home from an acute angle.

    It's a funny old game.

Just seen a report from Cambridge university that states you lucky individuals with a low risk  for cocaine dependency have a larger frontal lobe and different shaped brain to the addict.

    According to Dr Karen Ersche.

Also "Our findings indicate that preventive strategies might be more effective if they were tailored more closely to those individuals at risk according to their personality profile and brain structure"

Interesting but the problem is most folk don't have that information when they snort or inject for the first time.

Ironically it looks as though his last game as a ref would be Anfield as he reffed there last weekend.

Want?  A large wedge from a rag of ill repute.
