Jones banned?

Saw that the Hull Manager now has a touchline ban following his third booking today, the same number as Nathan now has after his booking yesterday.

  • Weird number of bookings required for a Manager to get a ban
  • It seems to be really hard to find stats for how many times managers have been booked annoyingly
  • I was worried it was Lloyd Jones and one of the "injured to cover a ban for other things we'd rather not mention" situations...
  • Might do him good having to watch a match or two sitting in the stand. Curbs used to do it regularly iirc (and not on a ban).
Think it was a ban the first time then he realised it helped him see more of the game etc.

I saw a stat last week that Steve Evans had been booked more times this season than any player.

Not sure if it's true but given it's Steve Evans i'm going to guess it is.

Sounds as if #cafc manager Nathan Jones will not be on the touchline at Barnsley tonight.

Picked up three bookings and under the current rules it is a one-game ban, so will have to watch it from elsewhere - most likely I'd imagine that would be from the directors' section.

  • Personally I don’t think it will do a lot of harm, not being pitchside will make Nathan calm down, he’ll have to,  and look at what’s going wrong / or what’s going right.

Old Chinese proverb, when your too close to the kitchen,  sometimes you get burnt.

Might show how much the players rely on his instructions though. A particular worry for Watson if he plays as Jones was always telling him what to do last season if I remember right

God help the rest of them in the directors box, he will be like a bear with a sore head, and up and down shouting out orders...old habits...🙄

He could sit in the away end, there will be about 4,500 spare seats.

Why are managers banned after just 3 bookings, but for players it's 5?

I assume it's because managers are supposed to set an example or something.

Plus there are much fewer things a manager can get booked for so each yellow is more "significant" I guess.
  • Didn’t he get booked for shouting out at Anderson?
  • Didn't help the result one bit him being in the stands, we were still just as shit!!

Sky cut to the directors’ box mid match just as Rodwell gave NJ his marching orders…

I see he had a quick chat with Methven after Humphrys was announced as MotM. Charlie found it funny.

I wonder if he wanted to sign him and Methven blocked it?

Maybe I’m being naive, but I’ve never got the impression Methven gets involved in signings.
  • Good - Might see a more relaxed performance rather than having a welsh PE teacher chastising anyone within earshot.

    Nope.
  • Worse if anything.

Not with Watson necessarily but think this was shown yesterday. Lots of running around like headless chickens
  • Said pre season he'd end up with loads of bans. It's funny to watch... but if your base line is bat shit crazy and shouting at everyone, where do you go ? And how productive is it from a players perspective?.
